he City Council of the City of Lodi met in regular session at 8:00
ofelock P.M. on the date and at the place first above written, Councilmen
Clark, Spooner, Weihe and Mayor Steele present, Councilman Keagle absent,
being reported as critically 111.
The minutes of the regular meeting of July 15th.,1935 and of the
meeting adjourned therefrom held July 22nd.,1935 were read, approved as
read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
Mr Edward Hutchins addressed the Council with regard to proceedings
necessary to be taken in order to consolidate an annexation election with
the bond election to be held September 12th.,1935. He was referred to
the City Attorney with instructions that he proceed immediately to circulate
the necessary petition so that proceedings might be initiated.
Mr W.F.Meeske applied by letter for an allocation of the City's
fire insurance premiums.
The Monthly Report of the Chief of Police for JULY and that of the
City Foundmaster for the same period were received, read and ordered filed.
The Quarterly Reports of the City Clerk and of the City Treasurer
for the quarter ended July 31, 1935 were also received, read and ordered
to the files. The City Clerk reported that there would be some delay in
getting out the annual financial report owing to non -receipt of forms from
the State Controller, who was engaged in revising the forms formerly used.
John A. Grosz applied for a lease on the land at the sewage disposal
plant lying South of the works for vegetable growing. The Clerk was direct-
ed to inform him that the City would consider a lease from year to year
only for not less that $30.00 per year. -
Ten applications for building permits for structures to cost $9100.
were ordered granted.
Claims in the amount of $20,783.94 as approved by a majority of the
Finance Committee were allowed on motion of Councilman Clark, Wethe second.
At 9:30 o'clock P.M. the Mayor called the Council into executive
session as Committee of the Whole and the Council continued to so sit until
9:50 o'elock when open session was resumed.
On motion of Councilman Weihe, Spooner second, Resolution No. 791
authorizing and directing the City Clerk to ascertain certain information
regarding the supply of electric energy from the Central Valley Project
was introduced and read in full by the Clerk and was then passed and adopt-
ed by the following vote: -
AYES: Co-ancilmen, Weihe, Spooner, Clark and Steele.
NOES: Councilmen, None_
ABSENT: Councilman Beagle.
On motion of Councilman Weihe, Clark second, the City Council then
adjourned to and until 8:00 o'clock P.M. of Friday, august 9, 1935.
