HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - December 17, 193415�; COUNCIL CHAMBERS - - CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL - - CITY OF LODI Honday, December 17,1934 The City Council of the City of Lodi met in regular session at 8:00 o'clock P.1.. on the date first above written, Councilmen Clark, ?eagle, Spooner, B.eihe and.Steele(mayor) present, none absent. The minutes of the last meeting held December 4, 1934 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. This being the date and hour set for the reception of sealed proposals for the purchase of one truck for the water and sewer department and two trucks for the street department, the Council proceeded to the opening and canvass of bids received from the following persons and firms:- Loewen Auto Company, bidding on Chevrolet Krieger alotor Company, bidding on Ford Lodi ILotor Compan$, bidding on Diamond T Hansel & Ortman, bidding on Iritchell,Voenig & Brown, bidding on International George 3. E_ekhart, bidding on G.L.C. Owing to the diversity of the proposals submitted as above, the Council referred the proposals to J.a.Henning, Superintendent of Public Utilities and B.C.Dougherty, Street Superintendent for report and recommendation to be submitted later in the evening. It appearing that the State Emergency Relief Administration_ would still furnish labor for worth -while projects involving the employment of labor, the Council ordered arproval end submission of ac.plications for repainting street names on curbs, trimming of street and park trees and extension of sanitary and industrial sewer lines by the adoption of the following resolutions: 3esolution 110. 737 relating to street name painting; Resolution Iyo 738 relating to trees and Resolution Ito. 739 relating to sewers by unanimous vote. ( Copies of these resolutions are set forth in full on pages 159 et seq of these minutes) The City Clerk was authorized to handle arplications to the Department of Public Works of the State of California for the use of gasoline taxes on Cit, streets by the adoption of Resolution Ko. 740 by unanimous vote. At this time Ls Henning and Mr Dougherty submitted their recommendation that the bid on all three trucks as submitted by Loewen Auto Company r,as not only the lowest but the most desire - able of the proposals opened, and, after consideration of the proposals and tle recommendation as submitted, the Council awarded the contract for the uarcl ase of all three trucks to Loewen Auto Company by the adoption of Resolution of Ataard No. 741 by the following vote:- YI'P'S, Councilmen, FJeihe, Clark, I:eagle, Spooner and Steele, I�'03S, Ione. RESOLUTION NO. 739 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE !PAYOR TO SIGN AN APPLICATION FOR APPROVAL OF EMERGENCY. RELIEF ADMINISTRATION PROJECT WHEREAS, this City Council deems it to be for the best interests of this City that application be made to the State Emergency Relief Administration to.de certain work, viz: THE EXTENSION OF:EXISTING SANITARY AND/OR INDUSTRIAL SEVER LINES OVER PUBLIC STREETS AND CITY EASEMENTS TO,SBRVE PROPERTIES ON SOUTH GARFIELD STREET, SOUTH OF VINE STREET: ON STOCKTON STREET, SOUTH OF TOKAY STREET: AND ON SOUTH SCHOOL STREET, SOUTH OF SPRUCE STREET, and it is now desired to make application for said project; N0W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that application for said project be . so made to the State Emergency Relief Administration for California, and that the Mayor be, and he is hereby authorized to sign said appllcat- ion for and on behalf of this City; BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that JOHN A. RESOLUTION NO. 742 RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lodi :- (1) That the annexed °Speelfications for the Publication of Legal Notices In Conformance with Section No. 874 of the Municipal Corporation Act as Amended by the Statutes of 19338 be and the same are hereby approved and adopted as the pfficial specifications under which the annual contract for the publication od said notices shall be let for the calendar year ending December 31, 1935.
