COUNCIL CHAMBERS -- CiTY COUNCIL
CITY HALL -- CITY OF LODI
Monday. 0ctober 1, 1934
This regalar meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi. was called to order at o'clock P.M. on the date
first above written, Councilmen Clark, Spooner, 1'eeihe and
Steele (Mayor] present, Councilman yeagle absent on account
of illness.
The minutes of the last meeting held September 17tk,1934
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
Chief of Police Christesen addressed the Council in regard
to the necessity of installing parking limit signs in the
territory described in Ordinance No. 204, stating that, if the
signs were'i#stalled two to a block, it would take 28 double
faced signs. After consideration, Councilman Spooner moved,
Clark second, that sufficient signs be purchased and installed
so that there would be two signs on each side of each block.
Chief Christesen also advocated the purchase of a motorcycle
and the detail of one officer to traffic patrol, stating that
there had been 69 reported traffic accidents so far this year,
15 of which were serious and 5 resulting in death. Io action
taken on this recommendation.
'The application for a license to'conduct card and dice
games at 27 N. Sactamento Street in the names of'Don Williams
and Frank Wirtz was referred to the Chief of Police with power
to grant the same if warranted.
The request of the Greater.San Ramon Valley Chamber of
Commerce that the Council adopt'a resolution favoring the
routing of the tunnel road through Ygnaeio Valley'vas ordered
filed.
A letter of thanks from the Ladies Auxiliary of the Vet-
erans. of Foreign Wars for use of Lawrence Park for a card party
was received and read.
The report of the Chief of P)lice for the month of September
and of the City Poundmaster for the same month were received,
read and ordered filed.
Bills in the amount of 4;6,447.96 as approved by the Finance
Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Councilman
Clark, G.eihe second.
Mr J. A. Henning stated that the estimated cost of dredging
and filling in the banks at Lake ?ark would cost about X300.00.
An agreement between Mr ...G.Hurrle and H. Memory wherein
Mr Memory would take out the dead oak trees at Lake Park and
pay the City five tiers of wood therefrom vas ratified.
Mr J.A.ienning asked the pleasure of the Council in regard
to the expense for lighting incurred during the 1ustacio Club
:estival September 7,8 & 9 but.no action was taken.
At 9:45 o'clock P.M. the Mayor called the Council into
executive session and at 9:53 o'clock, regular session was
resumed when the Council adjourned at the order of the Mayor,
to meet again at 6:00 o'clock P.M. of Friday, October 5th,1934.
