Monday, August 20th.,1934
This regular meeting of the City Council of the City
Council or the City of Lodi was called to order by the Mayor
at 6:15 o'clock r.M. on the date first above written, Coun-
oilmen Clark, $eagle, Spooner, Weihe and Steele (Mayor)
present, none absent.
No persons desiring to address the Council at this time
the order of Public Hearings was passed and the Council proc-
eeded to hear Reports and Communications.
Miss Amy L. Boynton, Librarian of Lodi Public Library
filed her annual report and copies thereof were furnished
to each Councilman.
The City Clerk submitted his annual report for the
fiscal year ended dune 30, 1934 and the same was ordered
accepted and published in accordance with law.
After some discussion as to the City's liability for
forgerie w of cbecke and warrants, the Council decided to
discontinue the present "forgery bond" expiring August 24,
1934.
Renewal of the city's coverage for public liability
and property damage that might be caused by city owned or
operated automobiles and trucks was directed by order of
the Council.
The Omega Nu Sorority was allowed the use of the City
Hall basement for a day nursery during the coming Tokay
Festival. Also, the Committee from the Tokay Festival was
j allowed the -use of Maple Square for assembling floats.
ORDINANCE N0. 204 " AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE
N0. 137 OF THE CITY OF LODI, ENTITLED " AN ORDINANCE REG-
UL6TING TRAFFIC AND PARSING OF AUTOMOBILES UPON THE STREETS
IW THE CITY OF LODI, PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION
TB EOF AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN.CONFLICT THEREWITH"
BY ADDING THERETO SECTION 13 AND Y;AKING IT UNLAWFUL TO PARK
AUTOMOBILES AND OTHER VEHICLES ON CERTAIN PUBLIC STNS
AND WAYS IN SAID CITY FOR CERTAIN PERIODS AND DURING CERTAIN
TIM " having been regularly introduced at a regular meet-
ing hold August 6th,1934 and thereat ordered laid over for
the statutory period of not less than five days, was intro-
duced on motion of Councilman Clark, Beagle second and final-
ly passed and adopted by the following vote: -
AYES: Councilmen, Clark, %eagle, Spooner and Steele.
NOES: Councilman, Weihe.
ABSENT: 08ancilmen, None.
The Mayor then approved and signed the ordinance.
ORDINANCE NO. 205 " AN ORDINANCE REGULATING T1:21 RIGHT
OF =KING A SPEECH UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS OR OTHER OUTDOOR
PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF LODI " having been introduced
on August 6th.,1934 at a regular meeting of the City Council
-, and thereat laid over for,the statutory period of not less than
five days was brought up for passage and finally adopted,
passed and ordered to print by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen, Spooner, Weihe, Clark, $eagle and
Steele.
NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSENT: None.
The Mayor then approved and signed the ordinance.
Five building permits for structures to oest $800.00
were allowed and ordered granted.

It appearing that a bill for the cost of moving a fire
hydrant on South Main Street rendered Peirano Brothers was
a just charge, the Clerk was directed to collect the same in
the amount ror which it was rendered.
Bills in the amount of $2,689.24 as approved b$ the
Finance Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of
Councilman Weihe, Spooner second. The claim of Jerold
Sandman for extra compensation at Lake Park was referred to
the Finance Committee by the Mayor with Yell power to make
a just settlement.
Mr J. A. Henning, Superintendent of Public Utilities
asked that the Council state its policy with regard to the
rurnishing of light and power for the Tokay Festival spon-
sored by the "Mnetaehio Club". Tentatively, it was directed
that strict account and charge be made for all service render-
ed and on completion of the restival-activities, the Council
would take up the matter of settlement.
On motion of Councilmen Spooner, Keagle second, the Mayor
was appointed a Committee of one to arrange for the dedication
of the "Pioneer Oak" mentioned in the will of Mr George L.
Lawrence and to set the date or such dedication.
At the direction of the Mayor, none dissenting, the City
then adjourned to and until Tuesday, September 4th.,1934 at
the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. as the regular meeting date
would Yall upon a holiday, to -wit, upon Labor Day."
