Keagle, Spooner and Weihe present; Mayor Steele absent. In the absence of the Mayor, on motion of Councilman (eagle, Spooner second, Councilman Clark was elected Mayor pro -tem and opened the meeting. • The minutes of the meeting of rebruary 5th,1934 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. No persons being in attendance, the order of Public Hearings was passed and as there were no reports or written communications on file, the following matters were given consideration at this time: A communication from Attor_:ey Glenn hest in regard to certain bills for water and electricityincurred by o. L. Van Buskirk which was referred to the City Clerk for ajudication, the Council voicing the sentiment that no deferred payment of balance due be allowed while the City continued to render service. The tender of a deed to a portion of Lot 3, Lodi Barn- hart Tract from D. D. Hinzman and wife, which was accepted '1° by the adoption of Resolution No. 705 by the following vote: AY.2.S: Councilmen, Spooner, Weihe, Keagle and Clark. NOES: • Councilmen, None. ABSENT: Councilman, Steele. Three building permits including one to D. W. Aronhalt on North School Street, were granted. The Clerk reported local protest against the Aronhalt permit but as there was no restriction on property in that neighborhood, the Council could do nothing. The expenditure of not to exceed $300.00 of the City's gasoline tax funds on State Highway No.53 was approved and the matter of future expenditures from this source left for future consideration. Attention was called to the condition of the Southern Pacific railroad tracks on Lockeford Street and the Clerk was directed to notify that company to place them in good condition, also to ask them to improve its main line crossing on ?.lm, Locust, Pine and Walnut Streets. notion Councilman Keagle, Weihe second. It appearing that circular matter, particularly matter from Stockton, was being distributed contrary to the provis- ions of Ordinance No. 191, the Clerk was directed to notify the printers of this matter. that such distribution should cease at once and the Chief of Police was ordered to enforce this ordinance. Bills in the amount of $a,084.06 as approved by the Finance Committee were allowed and prdered paid on motion of Councilman Spooner, .eine second. Councilman Weihe as Chairman of the Committee on Streets and Parks reported the receipt on one proposal for roofing a portion of the Grand Stand at Lawrence Park and asked gor more time. He also asked for additional lights on the tennis courts and that the horseshoe courts be moved from their present location to Lawrence Park and lights installed for use of players of this game. On motion of Councilman Weihe, beagle second, the Com- mittee on Streets was authorized to purchase trees for plant- ing in City Parks and at the Sewage Disposal Plant.
