Yonday, January 15,1934
The City Council o: the City of Lodi met at 8:00 o'clock
P.M. on the date first above written, Councilmen Clark,Zergle,
Spooner, Weihe and Steele (h:avor), present, none absent.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held January End.
1934 were read, a;? -Droved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
No persons appearing, the order of Public hearings ,as
passed.
The Clerk read the resignation of Idr George S. Long as
Keeper of the City Dump. 11r Long beirig present, stated that
he could not do the work for the pay as there was little to
be recovered in waste materials, 'Ee said that he would stay
on the job until January 31st. At the order of the Y.ayor,
this matter was referred to the Committee on Public Health
and Safety for investigation and report.
The reports of the City Treasurer and of the City Clerk
for the quarter ended :December 31, 1933 were received, read
and ordered filed.
Three building permits for structures to cost w2,450.00
were granted.
Me application of the California Federation of tloman's
Clubs transmitted orally by Mrs Ray I:oore, for permission to
plant a tree in Lawrence ?ark in appreciation of the work of
Mrs Mae Crocker v.as granted and the Chairman of the Park Com-
mittee instructed to select a proper and fitting location.
It appearing that the citizens of Lodi had benefitted to
the extent of several thousand dollars from the efforts of
California Municipal Utilities Association and that the service
of this organization would benefit the City in the operation
of its municipally owned enterprises, the following resolution
was adopted by unanimous vote on the motion of Councilman
Spooner, Councilman Yeihe, second :

WIFEREAS, representatives of a group of publicly -owned
utilities met in San Francisco on Mlay 19, 1933 and perfected
a -n organization known as "C1 IF0RNIA 'wJI;ICIPAL UTILITIES
e:OCIATION", a copy of the constitution of which organization
is filed with the City Clerk;
'HERNAS, it has become apparent that, in order to combat
the dangerous anti-minicipal ocnership legislation which inter-
ests opposed to public ownership are constantly urging, it is
necessary that the publicly owned utilities of the State of
California band themselves to. -ether in an organization for their
mutual protection and benefit;

accepts the invitation to become a member of the California
14unicipal Utilities Association;
AND, BE IT FURTHEM R3SOL`ED,by the City Council of said Citi+
that a demand gayable to the California Idunieipal Utilities
Association in the amount of One Hundred Doll rs be drawn on the
General Fund on the first day of July of each year, as annual
dues covering the membership in said association; p<ovided,
however, t'rat the foregoing membership is sub41ect to termination
at the end of any fiscal year upon the giving of six months
written notice to that ell a�dressed to tYe Secretary of the
California I.knicipal Utilities Association.
Bills in the amount of $4,773.59 as approved by the Finance
Co,mittee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Councilman

Mr Clinton 0. :yenning appeared before the Council at
time with a statement Of the probable cost of material
and equipment that would be needed to repair curbs.gutters
and sidewalks under the C.W.3.project approved by Resolution
go. 701 adopted January 2nd.,1934.
He was authorized to complete the application therefore
nd to advise with. the County administrator of Public 6.'orks
ith the understanding that the City's contribution for
iterials and equipment would be limited to w2.000.00.
The Clerk reported that Mr Roswell P. Barbour had state?d
him that he was securing quit -claim deed to his property
Chestnut Street and that, if and when the title was so
aced, he would be willing to quit -claim to the City, any
-ion of Chestnut Street that might be included in the
deed.
No further business appearing, the City Council adjourned
e day and hour of its next regular meeting on motion of
'lman Weihe.
