HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - September 18, 1933COUNCIL CHAMBERS - - CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL - -CITY Of LODI Liondag, September 18th.,1933 This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of 1.di was called to order by the L yor at 8 o'clock 2.1.1. on the above written date, Councilmen Clark, Keagle, Spooner, Weihe and Steele present, none absent. In the absence of the City Clerk, Councilman Clark was named Clerk pro tem and the meeting opened. the minutes of the regular meeting of September 5th and of the meeting adjourned therefrom held September 8th, 1933 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. Public Hearings : Messrs Don Fraser, P.r.Loewen, Otto Schunke, Earl tray and Fred Polenske appeared before the Council in regard to salary adjustments made by the City Council on September 8th and were given full explanation -of the Council's attitude. The Clerk read a letter from :he City Tax Collector in which he called the Council's attention to a deficiency in the 1915 3ond Act Street Assessment Fund and the following resolution was adopted in accordance therewith :- Rs'SOLUTION NO. 689 WHEREAS, as appears from the records of the City Treas- urer, there is a deficit in the Street Assessment Bond Fund of 9'1,455.19 due to unpaid installments on street improvement assessments displayed upon the 1932 assessment rolls; BE IT 3SOLV7D, that the said City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to transfer the sum of ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS (W1,000.00) from the General Fund of this City to the said Street Assessment Bond Fund; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED. that the City Clerk be and he is hereby empowered and directed to transfer the sum of FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00) from moneys in his custody received on account of advance payments on street improvement assess- ments to the said Street Assessment Bond Fund; BE IT FURTHER RM OLVED, that, in apportioning any moneys received on account of tax redemptions, the City Clerk shall apportion any moneys received for the purpose of redeeming del- inquent street improvement assessments to the General Fund of this City for the purpose of indemnifying the said General Fund for moneys herein advanced to vay charges due from the said Street Assessment Bond Fund. The foregoing Resolution No. 689 was passed and adopted by the following vote :-. AYES: Councilmen, beihe, Spooner, Keagle, Clark and Steele ( 'Mayor ) NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSENT: Councilmen. None. ORDINANCc, NO. 198 entitled " AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES ?OR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING XTLi' 1, 1934 " having been reg- ularly introduced and read at an -.adjourned regular meeting of the City Council held September Sth.,1933 and thereat laid over for the statutory period of not less than five days, was brought up -for passage and was finally passed, adopted and ordered to print by the following vote : AYES: Councilmen Spooner, Weihe, Keagle, Clark and Steele ( Mayor ) NOES: 'Councilmen, None. ABSENT: Councilmen, None. The Mayor then approved and signed the above ordinance. On motion of Councilman Weihe, Spooner second, the pur- chase of a lawn mower from H.V.Carter Company was authorized. Sycamore Park .arms of Freson applied for permission to sell jams and jellies made from their farms in the City, A Rf��H `' Hutrle asked D?rmission to close the Manicipai sorLionday, September 25th and it vas so ordered. 62 (minutes of Sept 18, 1933 continued) COUNCIL CHAMBERS --CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL - - CITY OF LODI Bills in the amount of 1'?2,308.11 (pay -rolls) as a,proved by the 2inance Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion duly put and carried. On motion of Councilman Spooner, Keagle second, W.G.Hurrle was employed as crater inspector. A license to sell beer at the Campi Hotel on South Main Street was granted to emirs R. Piazzi. H. He-i'r applied for permission to erect a frame garage at 548 East Oak Street to cost X200.00 and the same was granted. On motion of Councilman Spooner, Keagle second, and car- ried unanimously, police officers were allowed extra compen- sation for use of their automobiles when the same were used in the course of duty outside the City, the rate of compensat- ion to be fixed by the City Council. On motion of Councilman Weihe, the City Council adjourned to and until the day and hour of its nest regular meeting to be held Monday, October 2, 1933.
