'_'he minutes of the last meeting held June 5th.,1963 were read, approved as read and so endorsed -by the Yayor. No persons ao_pearing at this time, the order of '?ublic Hearin,;s was passed and the Council proceeded to hear comr=- ications and reports : (1) A letter from t%e California Corr:ittee ooposed to Prohibition requesting the Council to adopt a resolation in favor of the repeal of the Highteenth Armendment - laid aside without action as beiwithout the purview of City affairs; (2) A proposal iron Iicipal Audit Company of Long Beach submitting a contract for audit of the City's accounts no action - proposal not requested. (3) g letter from League of California Lunicipalities regarding a,plication of the new gasoline tax allocation. (1) Al letter from the same source as above regarding proceedure under the Federal Public Works Act. (5) The report of J. A. Henning as Sewer inspector cov:ri% the mont:Z of May - ordered filed. At this time Ur "Juee"Prentice appeared and asked that the City provide li-,hts for indoor base -ball on vacant lots fcrest of Lawrence Park - this matter taken under advisement. ! J.P.Huber also aopeared in reward to the dusty condition of 'he alley in Block 33 of the original City caused by trucks from ane 'oultry Producers Asscn. fhe Street Superintendent vas instructed to have this condition remedied. One building permit for an addition to a building at School Rz Walnut Streets to cost $300 was ordered granted. Oaring to special circumstances, the Clerk was allowed to continue water service at 626 S.Washington Street although the bill was in arrears. The Clerk reported that the provisions of Ordinance No. 195 relating to the'licensing of distributors of beer was being violated by Stockton merchants; the City Attorney advised that drivers be arrested. City Attorney Glenn Vest stated -'that the hearing before Judge Jones to be held at Lakeport on the 21st had been set over until the 26th. On Motion of Councilman Weihe, Keagle second, it was moved and carried that not less than two of the City Council attend. t:a.t or Steele read a letter from the California -Publicly j Owned Utilities Association setting forth the victory won in ` Congress in the exemption of publicly -owned power plants from federal taxes. Councilman ?leihe called attention to the poor condit- ion of Daisy Avenue and California Street, stating drat num- erous comalaints had been presented to him. He also mentioned the prevalence of double parking in the business district. Street Superintendent Doazrhertyy beinngg present, was advised to get in touch with S-_,pervisor Stuckenbruck and see if oil could be -ourchased from the Countv and a Count yy truck hired to spread it after the roadbed had been properly prepared. 40 COUNCIL CHAMBERS --CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL - - CITY OF LODI In -111-le -Natter of double parking, the Clerk was directed to infori the Chief of Police that the. City ordinance prohibit- ing such parking should be enforced. Bills in the amount of $$4,037.77 as ao-proved by the =inance Comittee were ordered paid on motion of Councilman 7eihe, Clark second. Claim #20111 in the amount of $0-.00 ,ras passed unapproved without prejudice and the Clerk ordered to cow=icate with the City's insurance carrier as to its assuming this a,.ount.
