?he City Council of the City of Lodi yet at 8 o'clock P.M.
on the date first above written, Councilmen Clark, Keagle,
Spooner, Tieihe and Steele present, none absent.
_--e minutes of the last meeting held 1:ay 15th,1933 were
read, a,proved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
No persons appearing, the order of Public Hearings was
messed and the. Council proceeded to hear communications and
reports :
D. Dinubilo i• Sons, :laser 3rothers and C.M. Abdallah
Company each applied for licenses to distribute beer in the
City to retailers for re -sale. On motion of Councilman Keagle,
Spooner second, each was granted the priviledge applied for.
General Petroleum Company arplied for permission to install
and operate an electric sign at the Northwest corner of School
and Elm Streets. Permit granted.
Letters asking permission to submit pr000sals for the audit
of the City's accounts were received from Mcsachen & McIntyre,
C.H.Iverson and L.O.7iisler. Ordered placed.on file.
the Chief of Police and the City Poundmaster each filed
his report for the month of May and the same were read and orderd
to be handled in the usual manner.
The Clerk reported that A. Propper doing business under the
name and style of "Lodi Bargain Store" had made an assignment to
the"San Francisco Board of Trade" and that the latter desired
the City to sign its claim for water and electricity furnished
to the Board of Trade. The Clerk stated that he was loath to
do so as the City would necessarily have to continue service
after loosing a great portion of back bills and suggested that
light and water service be cut off in accordance with ordinance.
It having been published in the newspapers that the City
Council were considering the adoption of a building code, let-
ters from the California State Chamber of Commerce were read
suggesting delay in such action until the State Chamber's new
California code would be available. The Clerk also stated
that City Manager Hogan of Stockton had offered the service of
that City's building inspector, if the Council desired such
assistance.
A letter fromMr Robert M. Searls regarding the prepar-
ation of findings in the San Joaquin County case against Fast
Bay Municipal Utility District was read at length.
William S. Reese submitted a proposal to remove all the
palm trees and dead acacias on Central Avenue from Lodi Avenue
to Poplar Street for the sum of 4368.00 or remove palms alone
for 4320.00. No action taken as the expense on tree removal
this year on account of frost damage had already exceeded the
budgeted allowance.
Four building permits -for structures to cost 42,475.00
were ordered granted.
Mayor J. M. Steele reported orally on the meeting of the
California Publicly Owned Utility Association held at San
Francisco on May 19th,1933.
Mr W. G. Hurrle was authorized to open and conduct the
play -grounds in Municipal Park No. 1 for a period of two
calender months from June 15th to August 15th.,1933 at a
cost of not to exceed 4550.00. Motion Councilman 'Pieihe, Keagle
second.

Sills in the amount of 211,088.82 as approved b; the
Finance Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of
Councilman Wei're, Keagle second.
