COUNCIL CHAMBERS-- CITY COUNCIL
CITY HALL-- CITY OF LODI
Monday, May 15th,1933
This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi was called to order by the Mayor at 8.05 o'clock on the
date 'first above written, Councilmen Clark, Zeagle, Spooner,
?eine and Steele (Mayor) present, none absent.
The minutes of the last meeting held May lst,1933 were
read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
Public Hearings -
Tire Chief George D. Polenske addressed the Council on the
necessity of regulations governing the installation of gas
heaters and particularly their connection to vents end flues
stating that most of the late fires had been occasioned by
faulty work in venting and installing gas water and air heaters;
the Mayor asked that the City Attorney take up this matter and
see if a brief ordinance could not be prepared to cover such
installations.

ment of water service on South_ School Street - Councilmen
Spooner of the Committee on Public Utilities reported that he
had male an investization with Superintendent Penning who had
recommended that a tie-in be made with another line that would
anent pressure in this district and that later, the cast-iron
mains could be extended.
Communications & Reports -
A letter from "Combustion Corporation" of San Francisco
•e?arding ?arbage incineration was passed without reading as
the Council felt no interest at this time.
Mr John A. :Ferning, City Plumbing Inspector, filed a report
covering sewer cornections for the months of April & May. (
The Clerk read a letter from California Municipal Utilities
A-sociation calling a meeting to be held May 19,1933 in San Fran-
cisco to consider vital matters pertaining to municipal owner-
ship; on motion of Councilman Spooner, 3eagle second, Mayor
Steele ':as directed to represent the City.
Dr James Z. Nelson as Trustee of San Joaquin Local Health
District representing the City of Lodi filed his annual report.
Songstacken Tlectric, 8 South School Street, applied for
the contract to furnish large incandescent lamps to t#e City
for the next contract year. On motion of Councilman Clark,
Spooner second, the contract was given to this firm as next in
line for it, agreement to date from July 1, 1933.

having been regularly read and introduced at the regular meeting
of May lst.,1933 and thereat laid over for not less than five
days, was again introduced and read for final passage and adoption
and 17as passed and adopted by the following vote :-
AYES: Councilryen,'Fieihe-,seagle,Clark,3pooner & Steele.
1.10ZS: Councilmen, NO E. A3SE.;T: None.
Councilman Tieihe of the Committee on Streets and ?arks
stated that the Committee had recommended thatthe band of Lodi
Union High School play at five concerts and on parade Armistice
Day and that they felt that some recompense should be granted
the students in the band, he therefore recommended that the
sum of '300.00, part of the amount heretofore budgeted for music,
be allotted the Student Body with which to purchase music and
instruments; Mr 4eihe so moved .and the motion .gas seconded by
Councilman Spooner amd unanimously passed.

against the lots of Tulsa Singh be abated on the round that all

"on the county" and '-ad not raid back rents. He cxas info_�:ed
that this mater mi?'rt be considered later.
Bills as a^proved b7 the Committee on Finance & Revenue,
in the amount o' $8,621.00 were allowed and ordered paid on
*potion of Councilman ,Yeihe, Keagle second.
No further business appearing, the Council adjourned on
motion of Councilman ;iaihe.
