(1) -. notice from the Railroad Commission Of the State of
California setting 3'riday, L7ovember 25th at 10.00 O'clock A.11.
as the date end the City _all at Stockton as the place where
the petition of Central California Traction Company would be
_card before Examiner Handford, wherein this company seeks to
abandon passenger service between Stockton, Lodi and Sacramento
oxoert passenger service between Sacramento and Colonial Heights.

(2) A letter from %r.J.Robinson, submitted by the '•.:ayor,

the installation of ,.ate" meters. the Clerk submitter a writ-
ten recommendation from Superintendent J.: .He.`.ning, that such
meters be installed at the cost to the City but that a month -
17 rental chane of 50; per meter be added to the existing

:(3) AY letter from City Attorney Glenn ..est, transmitting
opinion on the validity of Ordinance _+o. 118 _elating to
the handling and sale of intoxicating liouors. As the whole
matter of intoxicationbe.era?es aapeared to be confusing at
this time owinz to the repeal of the ", ri T t Act" and im-
minent modification of 7olsteadAct, no actio: .;as deemed
nxoessary until he 'iit7 could take definite action along
lines laid out by the Federal Ccn7rees and the California
Legislature.
(4) A written report from Councilman '.:.L.Spooner of
the Committee on Streets recommendinz that the City.take some
action in regard to the un-e.mnlo meat situation and suzzestingg
that the rotor sweeper be laid off berinnine December 15th
and that it be replaced b7 hand labor. This recommendation
,as favorably received and the matter referred to the Committee
on 3:reets for the formulating of a definite plan to be sub-
mitted December 5th.
(5) .n orate report from the City Clerk stating that he
hal conversed with Dr John J. Sippy Of San Joaquin Local Health
District retarding the use of unemployed laborers in connect-
ion with a moscuito abatement prozraml and that Dr Sippy and
L:r 2. A. Reinke of the State Board of Healthe both of the
opinion that a trained man_ should be procured to direct the
initial work and train foremen in the oarryin_ out of such
a program of brush clearing and drainage as could be performed
with the labor now available. On motion properly carried, the

ment of a man recommended by the State Board of Health for a
per od of two :reeks. the Clerk also stated that warning should
be issued to dor owners in the City that their animals should
be rept off the streets in accordance with ordinance as Dr
Sippy had encountered several cases of rabies. in the vicinit;,
of Lodi.

Superintendent T.�.Hennirg stated that L. -r i. E. lawrence

directed that such a tan be made and water furnished.
Councilman :eihe recommended that unemployed labor be
pu.t to work in the City P=ark, Elm and Stockton Streets in
preparing tree -denuded spaces for grass planting. The i:?yor
referred this reco-=endation to the Street Committee. 1:r .ieihe
also asked that the premises at 336 Eilborn Street be cleared
of weeds as a fire menace and recommended that some of the
trees in La -ale Square be removed so as to allow space for
those remaining to ?row better. As it appeared tY.at this
last work could be accomplished at no expense to the City as
people would take them out for the wood, it ,has so ordered.
Two building hermits for structures to cost $400.00
ordered ,ranted.
On motion of CDuncilmsn .ieihe, Clark second, Chas. T.
Treshour, Superintendent of Lawrence 'Park, was allowed two
weeks vacation, his son die to be paid 9120.00 for relief
work during his fathers absence; motion carried, .".--ayor Steele
not voting. -
Sills in the amount of j4,448.54 as approved by the
Finance Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of
Councilman Clark, 1eihe second.
At 9.20 o'clock P.>. the Council was resolved into
executive session at the order of the :dayor for consultation
with the Cit;; attorney, returning to open meeting at 9.36
o'clock.
:r_e following resolution was then introduced:-

4'i3 3' , in the Superior Court of the State of California,
in and for the County of Calaveras, east Say ::Municipal Utility
District heretofore co=enced an action for the purpose of con-
demning the right to use the waters of the !Lokelumne River in
accordance wit, certain permits heretofore issued by the Calif-
ornia Division of ;Yater 3iehts to said district and in accord-
ance with certain announced intentions and plans of said dist-
rict as ac-ainst the rivarian rights which are hart and parcel
of certain lands situate in Lmador and Calaveras Counties, title
to which stands in the name of City of Lodi, subject to certain
conditions subsequent, the happening of which would cause the
title to said lands to revert to Colorado Power Company;

1932;

for the continuance of the time of said trial;

employed for the purpose of making a report and testifying at
said trial;

of such reports, witnesses and of the trial of said action and

connect -id therewith, provided however, that Colorado ?over
Company, shall, at its own expense, furnish the services of
its attorney or attorneys at said trial and the services of at
least one engineering witness.
