In accordance with ordinance in such cases made and
provided, the City Council of the. City of Lodi met in regular
session at 8 o'clock 11:1.1% on the above written date, the first
Londa.( in September boing a holiday; Councilmen Clark, Keagle,
Spooner, :!eine and Steele present, the last named presiding.
The minutes of the last meeting held at^ust 15th,1932
were read, arproved as read and so endorsed by the yayor.
No persons addressing the Council, the order of Public
uearings ;as passed and the Council proceeded to hear communic-
ations and reports :
The monthly report of the Chief of -Police for August
and that of the =oundmaster for the same period were received,
read and ordered filed, likewise the re -ort of the City Plumb-
ing Inspector.
,he Citv Clerk filed his annual retort of the financial
transactions of'the City for the fiscal year ended June 30,1932
and the sane ,;as accepted but publication_ in a newspaper with-
held as aitinE; the opinion of tte City Attorney as to the
necessity of such publication.
On Notion of Councibnan .,�eihe, Claxk second, Public
Liability andro-erty Damage insurance on the City's two fire
trucks eras ordere� cancelled.
Councilman Spooner as cor ittee to work with Lodi Bus-
iness mens Association in regard to a directional sign on U.S.
Highway No. 99 reported interviewing Colonel Garrison of the
State Departm:ent of Public ';corks but that the State still denied
the right to encroach upon the highray.
Ordinance lo. 192 " A:I ORDIII+ANCE LEVYING TAKES FOR TIM
FISCAL YRAR JITLY 1, 1933" having been introduced and
read at the meatin€ of August 15th :xfas finally passed, adopted
and approved by the following vote :
:AYES: Councilmen, Clark, Jeihe, Keagle, Spooner and
Steele.
NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSFhIT : None.
On motion of Councilman .'eihe, Clark second, the City
Clerk and the 'Jayor Fere chosen delegates to the annual con-
ventior_ of the League of California : unicipalities to be held
at Sar Diego on September 26 to 30th.
Seven building permits aggregating $1,2CO.00 were ord-
ered granted.
_. Bi_ls in the amount of 013,410.42 as a.�proved by the
i Finance Committee were allowed and ordered pain on motion of
Councilm=an '11eir_e, Spooner second.

he Council was then resolved into Carmittee of the
Whole and after a short session, again appeared in open meet-
ing with all members present.
she Clerk Paving presented two -applications for card
and -dice Q e licenses, one from George Shoup, 16 S. Main St.,
and the o cher frac! Sidney Abrams, 28 S. Main Street, it was
ordered that a license for the balance of thepresent quarter
issue tot -Ir Abrams subiect to renewal October 1st if the place
:gas conducted in accordance with law. Councilman Clark voting
"No" when the '•.payor put the question.

The Council discussed the approachiN trial of the
City's suits against mast Bay !?unicippa1 Utility District, and
the effect of the filing of a brief by Counsel for mast Bay
District in the Supreme Court of this state askir_c� that the
udgement of Colorado power Company against Pacific Gas and
electric Coypany be affirmed.
