Monday,July 5,1932
The City Council of the City of Lodi met in regular ses-
sion at 8.o'clock P.M. on the date first above wrtiite,
Councilmen Clark, Keagle, Spooner, Weihe and Steele present,
none absent.
The minutes of the meeting of June 20th.,1932 were read,
approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
Mr H. J. Tolliver representing Lodi Business Mens Assoc-
iation again appeared in regard to the erection of a direct-
ional sign -at Pine Street and Cherokee Lane, asking that the
Mayor apppoint a committee from the Council to,work with tae
association. At the order of theMayor, Councilman Sppooner
was appointed as such committee with direction that he invest-
tigate and report to the Council.
The Secretary -Treasurer of Lodi Volunteer Fire Department
filed a list of the officers of the Aepa.rtment elected at the
last meeting of the Department. As the approval of these
officers as employees of the City would rest with the Council,
on motion of Councilman Spooner, deihe second, further consid-
ertaion was postponed to the date of the next regular meeting
so that a resolution conforming to the provisions of Ordinance
No. 163 might be prepared.
The Warterly Report of the Chief and Secretary of Lodi
Volunteer -Fire Department was received, read and.ordered to
the files.
The Report of the Chief of Police for June and that of
j the City Poundmaster for the same month were also received,
read and ordered accepted.
Amy L. Boynton, Librarian of Lodi Public Library filed
the annual report of her department and the same was read at
length and ordered filed.
In the matter of the application of Palace :Market for
a permit to erect a frame structure for dwelling purposes
as a second story to the building at 19 South Sacramento St.,
the Clerk read a letter from the Board of Fire Underwriters
of the Pacific addressed tb the Chief of the Fire Department
condemning such an addition and on motion duly put and carried,
the application was ordered denied.
A letter from the State Library Association setting forth
the advant es of libra service during the resent hard times
and an application fromr J.Rambo to audit the City's accounts
were received, read and ordered filed.
Four building pernits, Nos 1018 to 1021 for structures to
cost $345.00 werec ordered granted. with the proviso that the
;- platform embodied in application No. 1020, Lodi Athletic Club,
be covered with non-cnnbustibule�.= material.
Councilmen Clark and Keagle as a special committee to
investigate the feasibility df painting the two fire stations
reported that the materuals could be purchased for about $100
ana that the firemen would perform the work. At the direction
of the Mayor, the materials were ordered purchased.
Councilman Spooner reported that conditions at the Sewage
Disposal Plant were now satisfactory except that the round
south of the plant were covered with a very heavy wee rowth.
At the suLZestion of Mir Henning, William Baker, fozmer lessor
of this ground was to be interviewed and told that he should
leave the ground in better condition than at present.

- Bills in the amount of $10,958.20 as approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid on motion of Councilman
':+eihe, Clark second.
At 9.30 o'clock PA.. the Council was resolved into
executive session at the order of the Mayor, to consult
with -he City Attorney and the Manager of. the Baths.
At 10.30 O'clock P.M. , relar session was resumed and
the City Council adjourned at the order of the Mayor, to meet
again on its next regular meeting date.
