City Hall - City of Lodi
Monday May 2 1932.
This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi was called to order by. the Mayor at 8 o.'clock P.M. ori the
date first above written, Councilmen Clark, Keagle, Spooner,
.Teihe and Steele present, none absent.
The minutes of the last meeting, held April 18, 1932
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
No persons apneari , the order of Public Hearings was
passed and -the City -Council proceeded to hear communications
and reports :
A cony of a resolution adopted by Bruella Farm Center
endorsing the City Council's stand in regard to the conservat-
ion of the waters of the ':okelumne River was received and read;
the Clerk was directed to.acknowledge the same with the thanks
of the City Council.
Mayor G. M. Steele announced the following changes in
standing committee assignments :-
Councilman Spooner in place of Councilman .ieihe on the
Committee on Public Health an& .Safety;
Councilman Clark in lieu of Councilman Keagle on the
Ca-mittee on Streets and Highways.
J. F. Bruns applied by letter for any work that the City
might undertake; letter ordered filed.
:he Report of the City ?lunbing Inspector for April .vas
received and read, also the reports of the Poundmaster and of
the Chief of Police for the same month. All ordered to the files.
The announcement of the spring meeting of the California
Sewage Jorks Association to be held in Yosemite Valley was
received.
The Clerk read a letter submitted through Councilman
.feihe by John Bauer offering to split the City s appropriation
for music so as to allow Lodi Union High School $30.00 for the
playing of four concerts, the balance of the appropriation,
0400.00 to to to the Tokay Band for the remaining eight concerts.
The Tokay Band desired to coimience their portion of the series
on June oth.,1932.
Cn motion of Councilman deihe, Spooner second, it was
moved that the letter be accepted and the money appropriated
for music be aonortioned, $30b to the High School Band for
the benefit of the "Tokay Annual", four concerts. and the re-
maining $900.00 to the Tokay Band for eight concerts and
parades for Memorial Day and Armistice Day, all warrants in
payment for services of the Tokay Band to be drawn payable to
individual players and not drawn payable to the leader as
heretofore. Motion carried unanimously.
The Clerk read a letter from J..V..Mumbert claiming
damages to the amount of $120.96 for concrete pipe purported
to have been ruined by shutting off City water during replace-
ment of grater mains; This letter was not accompanied by a
claim on the Treasury.
A letter calling a conferance on taxation and budget
matters was received from James Mitchell, President of the
League of California :Municipalities. The conferance of the
northern section to be held in San Francisco on May 7th.
On motion of Councilman 4eihe, Keagle second, the Clark was
directed to attend.

O DINANC3 NO. 191, relating to the distribution of 'nand
bills and other forms of commercial advertising was ordered
laid over until the next meeting.
Several persons now being in attendance, a prolonged
discussion was had on the operation of C•rdinance No.�188, re-
lating to 'she nancling of milk, the az or finall ordering the
-atter referred to the Cor,::ittee on Funic Health and Safet
and directin& tat the City cttonie• ca.::unicate with Dr JoKn
J. Si-ppy of pan Joaquin Local Health District in regard to
any L:oaification of the ordinance or in its enforcement.
The bond of J. Hamilton Davis as City Treasurer and ex -
officio Tax Collector of the City in the amount of $100,000,00
with Aetna Casulty and Surety Company as surety ,.as received
and ordered approved on motion of Councilman Keagle, leihe second.
Bills in the amount of $10,599.93 as approved by the
Finance Committee were allowed and ordered paia on motion of
CounciLman Spooner, Jeihe second.
Cn motion_ of Councilman .'Ferre, the City Council adjourned
to and until the date of its next regular meeting.
