HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - April 4, 1932477 Council Chambers -City Council City Hall - City of Lodi Monday, April 4th., 193E This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was called to order by the Mayor at 8 o'clock P. M. on the date first • hereinabove written, Councilmen beagle, Roach, Steele, and Spooner present, none absent. The minutes of the regular meeting of March2lst.,1932 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. No persons being in attendance, the order of Public Hearings was passed and the Council proceeded to hear com- munications and reports : The monthly report of the Chief of Police for March was read and ordered filed, likewise the report of the City Pound - master for the same period. The Chief of the Lodi Volunteer ?ire Department's Quart- erly report for the period ended March 31st.,1932 was read and ordered filed without comment. The Clerk reported receipt of a letter from the League of Los Angeles County :Iunici'alities regarding the a.J.Locke affair, but as each Councilman had received a similar letter, no action was taken nor was the letter read. It a'pearing that no decision of the Federal Power Commission had been handed down since the hearing in San Fran- cisco held in July of 1931, the following Resolution was then adopted: RESOLUTION N0. 656 WHEREAS, in the month of March 1931, the City of Lodi filed a protest with the Federal Power Commission protesting the issuance of preliminary permit for power project No.1134 on the Llokelamne River which permit had theretofore been applied for by East Bay Municipal Utility District, and whereas a trial was had before said Federal Power Commission at San Francisco, California in the month of July 1931, at which evidence in support of said protest was introduced by said City of Lodi ; AND, WHEREAS, said City of Lodi thereafter filed and submitted to said Federal Power Commission briefs in support of said City's protest ; AND, ,'SHE?EAS, said case was brought to trial and whereas the filing of said briefs was ordered by said Federal ?ower Commission in an unusu>.11y short time to the end that said matter mi?ht be expeditiously disposed of ; 'AND, WHER'.aS 2no decision upon said protest or application has been made by said Federal Power Commission} NUN, THEREFORE, 3E IT RESOLVED, that said Federal Power Commission is hereby requested to make a prompt decis- ion with as much dispatch as possible to the end that said protest may be decided without any unnecessary delay; and that the attorney for said City of Lodi is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the said Federal Power Commission at Washington, D.C. The foregoing Resolutiion No. 656 was adopted by the following vote: - AYES: Councilmen: Steele, Weihe, Eeagle, Roach and Spooner (Mayor) NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. 478 (minutes of April 4,1932, continued) On motion duly put and carried, Councilman Weihe was authorized to procure and erect a sign on the Municip- al tennis courts stating the rules for players. In the matter of the gun carriage and caisson procured by the Veterans of ?oreigh .ars : The location of these vieces in the public Dara was left um to a com- mittee to be appointed by the City Council, the Veterans of '^oreign :'tars and American Legion Post No. 18. . tour building permits for structures to cost $3,325.00 were ordered granted. . G. Hurrle smeared in regard to the opening of the Municipal 3aths for the season and was authorized to start on the 14th providing the weather was suitable. Sills in the amount of 911,436.00 as a:,proved by the auditing cor-raittee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Councilman Weihe, Roach second. On motion of Councilman 4eihe, the City Council then adjourned to and until the date of its next regular meeting to be held Monday, April 18th.,1932.
