HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - December 21, 1931Council Chambers -City Council City Hall - City of Lodi Monday, December 21st., 1931 This regular meeti of the City Council of the City of Lodi.was called to order by the Mayor at 8.10 o'clock P.M. on the date first above written, Councilmen Roach, Steele, Jeihe and Spooner present at roll -call, Councilman Keagle appeared at 8.15 o'clock and took his seat in the Council. The minutes of the meeting of December 7th and the meet - ire adjourned therefrom held December 8th.,1931 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. A notice of a hearing before an examiner of the State Railroad Comicsion to be held at Lodi on January 21st,1932 in regard to discontinuance of train service on the Southern Pacific railroad between Lodi and ,00dbridge and between Lodi and Valley Springs was received, read and ordered filed. Another notice of hearings to be held in San Francisco and in Los Angeles by the same Commission in recd to the establishment of a standard system of practice for the alter- ation of existing grade crossings between railroads and high- ways was read at length and ordered filed. California Sewage .Yorks Association invited this City to enter the Lodi sewage disposal plant in competition with other state plants for a medal and award of money to be awarded next spring to the plant showing best operation, efficient results appearance, local suoport and excellence of design. On motion of Councilman Jeihe, Roach second, the Lodi plant was ordered entered in the coopetition. Annual purchase agreements for purchase of chlorine and for electric watt -meters .expiring with the end of the year, renewal of the agreement with Great western Chemical Company for liquid chlorine for the year 1932 was directed and also renewal of the meter purchase agreement with Duncan Electric Company for the same period, on motion of Councilman Jeihe, Keagle second. The Mayor thereupon signed the agreements. Three building permits for structures to cost $950.00 were ordered granted. Pay -rolls for the half -month ended December 15th were ordered paid in the amount of $2,718.93 on motion of Council- man Jeihe, Roach second. :r John A. Henning made an oral report on the condition of the gutter on iest Oak Street running .'lest from Sacramento Street to the alley, stating that the same needed repair on both sides of this section of the street and estimating that it could be repaired and replaced in part for $225.00. On motion of Councilman Steele, 7eihe second, the Street Superin- tendent :Has dorected to have the work done at once. The matter of better heating of both fire houses was referred to Mr Henning for such action as he thought best. Councilman Steele suggested that some action would be necessary to take care of broken and irregular side -walks generally caused by tree roots. No action taken. On motion of Councilman Jeihe, the Council adjourned at 8.58 P.M. to and until the day and hour of the next regular meeting to be held January 4, 1 Atte , j or . City Clerk. 469
