Monday, May 11, 1931
Pursuant to the adjournment taken from the regular
meeting of 1:1ay 4th, 1131, the City Council met in adjourned
regular session at 8.00 o'clock P.M. on the date above written,
Councilmen Keagle,Roach, Steele and Spooner present, Councilman
'Weihe appeared at 8.10 o'clock P.::. and took his seat in the
City Council.
This being the date set by notice duly posted and
published for the reception of sealed proposals for the imp-
rovement of portions of Cherokee Lane under Resolution of
Intention No. 72, the Clerk reported the following sealed
proposals as submitted prior to the hour of 8 o'clock P.M.
and the City Council proceeded to publicly open, canvass and
declare the same :-
(1) The proposal or bid of R.H.Crummey
(2) " of Valley Paving & Construction :;o.
(3) if of Clyde Wood
(4 ) " of 11. -. Sall
(5) • " of Stewart M. Ye Gaw
((6) " of Fredrickson & 1,11atson Const.Cc.
(7)• of Clark s Henery Const. Co.
The above proposals were taken under advisement ar-il
May 13th,1931 on motion of Councilman iieibs, Roach second.
F— The Clerk read a letter from the Council of Parent-
Teacher Associations relating to play-gvounds and several"
members of the Council being in attendance, addressed the Cit.—
Council. -
Special Pay -roll No. 608 in the amount of � 187.00
covering work on Cherokee Lane sewers was allowed on motion
of Councilman Steele, Weihe second.
On motion of Councilman Steele, the City Council
adjourned to and until 8 o'clock P.M. of Wednesday, May 13th,
1931.

Pursuant to adjournment taken from the meeting of
May llth.,1931, the City.Council of the City of Lodi met in
adjourned regular session of 8.07 o'clock P.M. on the date
first above written, Councilmen Xeagle,Roach,Ste ele,;eihe and
Spooner present, the latter presiding.
uIr Raymond H. CmT.mey, low bidder on the Cherokee
Lane contract addressed the City Council in regard to the
employment of local labor, guaranteeing to employ local and
white help providing the same should be satisfactory.
It appearing from a careful consideration and tab-
ulation of the bids received Iday 11th that Mr Raymond H,
Crummey of San Francisco had submitted the lowest and best
bid for the contract of improving certain portions of Cherokee
Lane under Resolution of Intention No. 72, award was made
to him by the adoption of Resolution of Award No. 637 by the
following vote :-
AYES: Councilmen, Steele ,Weihe,3eagle,Roach s Spooner.
NOES: Councilmen, None.

TEERE3S,-the City Council of the City of Lodi did, in
open session on the 11th day of May,1931, publicly open,examine
and declare all sealed proposals or bids for doing the following
work to be done and improvement to be made bordering on said
City, to -wit:
All that certain work and improvement set forth in
Resolution of Intention No.72, passed and adopted by said City
Council on the 13th day of April,1931, which Resolution of
Intention is on file in the office of the City Clerk of said
City and is hereby referred to for a description of said work
and improvement, and also for a description of the assessment
district liable to be assessed therefor, and for further partic-
ulars ;
Now Therefore, BE IT aFSOLW D, by said City Council
of the City of Lodi that it reject, and it does hereby reject,
all of said proposals or bids except that next herein mentioned,
and hereby awards the contract for doing said work and improve-
ment to the lowest responsible bidder, to -wit: To RAYMOND H.
CRU;=Y at the prices named in his bid, to -wit
For grading subgrade..... nine -tenths cents 0.009 squ ft
pavement........ seventeen & nine

The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to
publish notice of this award twice in THE LODI 3ENTINr1, a tri-
weekly newspaper published and circulated in said City, which
newspaper is hereby designated for that purpose by said City
Council.

It appearing that the dry grass and weeds on various
lots in the City, were a serious fire hazard, on motion of
Councilman Steele, Roach second the Superintendent of Streets:
was directed to take vigorous sieps to h ave the nuisances
abated immediately.

Stockton Pyramid of Seiots desiring to hold a drill
and band concert in Lodi on �.tay 15th, the Superintendent of
'Ablic Utilities was directed to arrange for li ahtina the front
of the City Hall so that the band might occupy the necessary
space during the entertainment.
On motion of Councilman Steele the City Council
adjourned to the day and 'hour of its next regular meeting.
