HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - May 4, 1931� 3:S Council Chambers -City Council City Hall - City of Lodi Monday, May 4, 1931 This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was called to order by the Mayor at 6.10 O'Cloek on the date first above written, Councilmen Heagle, Roach, Steele and Spooner present at roll -call, Councilman Weihe appeared at 8.15 o'clock during the reading of the minutes and took his seat in the Council. The minutes of the regular meeting of April 20th and of the adjourned meeting of April 29th.,1931 were read, approv- ed as read and so endorsed by the Mayor. Mr John Hauer advised the Council that he desired to be instructed as to dates for this years band concerts and it was tentatively decided that they should commence June 23rd and close with one to be given on the first Tuesday in September. Reports of the City Poundmaster and of the Chief of Police for the month of April were received, read and ordered filed. The Clerk read a letter from the -Fidelity and Surety Company relating to the bond of William H. Lorenz as City Treasurer. The Committee on Pinance and Revenue was directed to check over the securities in the Treasurer's vaults and report. In the matter of the improvement of Cherokee Lane pursuant to Resolution of Intention No. 72 passed April 13th, the City Council ordered that the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer and that he make the assess- ment, by the adoption of Resolution No. 636-A :- R23OLUTION 210. 636-A. E3)LUT_Oii DIRECTING _H3 TOR -K TO BE DONT: UNDER TE3 DIR- ECTION 02, inn, CITY ENGIN= AND A::SESS=IT TO BE MADE BY HIM. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi, did, on the 13th day of April,1931, pass its Resolution of Intention No.72 to order certain work to be done and improvement to be made bordering on said City, which Resolution of Intention is hereby expressly referred to for further particulars, and said City Council did thereafter on the 29th day of April, 1931, duly pass its Resolution Ordering the Work No. 636, ordering said work to be done and said improvement to be made bordering in said City, which Resolution Ordering the York is also hereby referred to for further particulars; and V,.EEREAS the plans and specifications for doing said work and making said improvement have heretofore been adopted by said City Council and are now on file in the office of the City Clark of said City, and are hereby referred to for further particulars; and i,'H33333, said City Council desires that said work be done under the direction of the City Engineer of said City; and 'KEREAS, said City Council desires that the assess- ment hereafter to be made in the proceedings shall be made and signed by the City Engineer instead of the Superintendent of Streets; now therefore, be it RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lodi that it direct and it does hereby direct, that the aforesaid work shall .be done under the direction of the City Engineer of said City and the materials used shall comply with said specifications and be to the satisfication of said City Eng- ineer, instead of the Superintendent of Streets of said City of Lodi ; and it does hereby direst and provide that the assessment her., ­ after to be made in the proceedings shall be made and signed by the City Engineer instead of the Superintendent of Streets. She foregoing Resolution No. 636-A was thereupon passed and adopted by the following vote :- AYES: Councilmen, Staele,`4eihe,LCeagle, Roach and Spooner ( ".'ayor ) NO -M: None. ABSENT: None. Bills in the amount of $11,596.51 as approved by the finance committee were ordered paid on motion of Cou.ncilm:n Steele; Roacg second. No further business appearing, the City Council adjourned at 9.30 o'clock P.K. to and until Yonday, r:Iay 11th, 1931 on motion of Councilman leagle, 'neihe second, the meetir-; to be at 8 o'clock P.M. on that date.
