HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - August 18, 1930Council C_:ambers-Cit=r Council City Hall, City or Lodi Eonaay, August 18„1930 This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lcdi was called to' order By the Mayor at 8.03 o'clock ?.:E. on the date first above written, Councilmen Heagle,Roach,Steele, .ieihe and Spooner present, none absent. -he minutes of the last regular meeting, held (August 4th were read, approved as read and so endorsed oy the Mayor. The order of Public Hearings was passed and the Council proceeded to hear Communications :- A letter regarding the next annual convention of Pacific Coast Fire Chiefs was ordered filed without comment. Harrryy F.riiliams applied for and was granted a transfer of card and pool licenses at 11 S.3acramento Street from A.G. Sanguinetti to himself. John Bauer addressed the Council by leeter regarding allowances to be made the band for next year and also regard- ing the band -stand in the park and the lack of order during concerts. Letter ordered over until consideration of the budget was in order. Councilman .eihe filed -the report of Sidney F. Glasson as Director of the Play Grounds and -the same was read and ordered filed. In- the matter of the disposal of surplus sludge from the City's Sewage Disposal Plant, the Clerk reported but one bid received, that of G. T .Layton of Oakland, Calif. and a ' contract for the sale of this surplus was awarded to Mr Layton at $$1.00 per ton for five years by the adoption of Resolution No. 619. by unanimous vote. Bids to insure the City.against liability occasioned by the use of vehicles were received from : ` W. T. CLEVERDON & CO. San Francisco HINZ-JAN JO= I;TSURANCE CO. Lodi J. '3 f. WAGERS Lodi JOHN L. HELLVIG Lodi J. S. MONTGOMMY Lodi Mr. H. E. Looser and Mr. L. H. Rinn asked that this insurance be placed with a local insurance exchange now in Process of organization. Jr R.P.Barbour stated that he had not received any notice of the call for bids and that he would like the op ortunity to submit a proposal. At the order of the Mayor, the whole matter was laid over for consideration at a meeting to be held later in the week. Bills in the amount of $4,673.81 as a;proved by the Finance Committee were allowed and ordered laid on motion of Councilman ;eihe Roach second. These bills comprised Claims 714553 to #14597 inclusive.
