Council Chambers -City Council
City call -City of Lodi
Lonie , April 7th.,1930
his regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi was called to order at 8.08 o'clock P.M. on the date first
above written, Councilmen Hale, Roach, Shattuck, yethe and
Spooner present, none absent.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held :larch 17th_
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
Dr John J. Sippy and Dr. E. Keene being in attendance,
also Messrs_F. H. Aberle and E.E .2erdun, the matter of inspect-
ion of meats belonging to farmers placed in storage at the plant
of Lodi Ice & Cold Storage Company for personal use was discussed
at length.
Mr George A. Burrell representing Lodi Lions Club solicited
an appropriation for the benefit of the convention of Junior Kions
Clubs to be held in Lodi May 22nd to 24th.,1930 - On motion of
Councilman Shattuck, aeihe second, the Clerk was directed to ask
Lodi District Chamber of Commerce to increase their donation by
the sum of cq00.00
On application of the :.Tanager, the Municipal Baths were
allowed to purchase through the regular channels, one used ex-
tractor, cost not to exceed 5150.00
Reports of the Chief of Police, the City Poundmaster and
the Secretary and Chief of Lodi Volunteer Fire Department were
received, read and ordered filed.
A petition sicned by fifty persons asking that additional
lights and a new playing surface be installed inLawrence Park
was referred to the meeting of April 21st.
The Finance Committee was directed to check the books of
the City Treaeerer-Tax Collector and forward a statement of con-
dition to his bondsmen so that the bond could be renewed.
Thomas Tyers offered by letter to haul street sweepings
with team for.:)5.50 per day.
Lodi District Chamber of Commerce forwarded its resolution
favoring the widening of the pavement of Cherokee Lane to fifty-
six feet and asking that the City Council enter into negotiations
with the County Board of Supervisors as to proceedure; City
Attorney Glenn West reported that this matter was already before
the Board of Supervisors and that they would assume jurisdiction.
Coe unications from California State Board of Health and fra
the league of California Municipalities relating to a state-wide
campaign against the house -fly were read.
Dr. W'.M. Dickie of the State Board of Health recommended by
letter that the person in charge of the City Sewage Disposal
Plant be sent to attend the Convention of California Sewage Works
to be held at Sacramento April 21st and on motion of Councilman
Wei he, Shattuck second, .ir. F.W.Post was directed to attend at
the exrense of the City.
T e Clerk read communications from carions applicants for
the position of City Engineer including a letter from Woodbridge
Irrigation District and was directed to reply to all applicantx
that no immediate action was contemplated.
The committee appointed by Mayor Spooner at the meeting
of March 17th to draw suitable resolutions of respect to the
late City Engineer, M1'1,0-1218 F. Barzellotti, presented the
following Resolution as their report :-

RESOLVED by this the City Council of the City of Lodi in
open public session this seventh day of April, 1930, that in the

loss of .. Louis T. 3-�i.rzellotti bu death on the 15th day of
March. 1930, that this City lost the services of one of the best
of its officers and this City one of its most valuable servautEr.
Since the year 1913. :r 3arzellotti served this City as
its City Engineer attendin3 to his duties well and faithfully,
never missing a meatino- of the City Council unless absent from
the City ^ric'r_ was seldom, aiding all other departments of the
City in their various problems and representing the City both
in private and in public life as a man among mer_ and as an
engineer of great nowledge and reputation. s Secretary of
the City Planning Co^nission, his ono ledge of practicability
combined with beauty and his inherent good taste served -to mike
:;any of the City's properties thins of beauty and of useful-
ness and though rine in years, he still had the hurt of youth
in -adapting himself and his work to modern conditions.
We pass this Resolution as a small tribute to his memory
directir_g that it be spread in full upon the minutes of the
proceedings of the City Council and hoping that the good effect
of his past labors and sound counsel will prevail in the future
over the wellfare of the City he loved so well.

Diva building permits totalling y11,700 were granted.
Sills in the amount of X11,623.10 as approved by the
Finance Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of
Councilman Shattuck, Roach second.
Lt the order of the __ayor, the City C,uncil stood adjourn-
ed until the day and hour of their next regular meeting to be
