The jz_ r Council of the City
of Lodi met in re: -;alar session
at 8 o'clock 12.11. at the place and on the date first above written,
Councilmen Roach,Shattuckeihe and Spooner present, Councilman_
Hale absent.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held January oth.
and the adjourned meeting of January 7th,1930 were read, aeproved
as read and so endorsed by the 'iayor.
37 unanimous consent, the order of Public Hearings .has pas-
sed and the City'Council proceeded to hear communications and
reports :
A receipt si.,ned by the president of Colorado Power Company
for an approved copy of the final report of Engineer :i . Hckart
on the Hydro -electric power plant and certified copies of the
minutes of a special meeting- of the share -holders of the same
Company Held S.nuary 8th.,1930 and of a resolution adopted thereat
were received, read and ordered filed.
The reeorts of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the
quarter ended -December 31st.,929 were received, read and ordered
lied.
A letter from the :;ocean's Relief Corps soliciting funds for
the erection of a monument to veterans of the Civil iar ::as refer-
red to the City Attorney for advice.
--itchell,Koenig :.iaters a.plied for nermission to move
an existing oil station building from the center of the lot at the
southwest corner of Church and Pine Street to the ',vest side of the
same lot. No action taken as this building is in un -zoned territory
and the Council claimed to have no jurisdiction.
Street Superintendent Dougherty retorted that the gutters on
the east side of the above station were badly broken and was inst-
ructed to notify the -parties interested to repair them.
The Chief of Ploice was directed to notify the occupants of
the service station at the South-east corner of School and -Locust
that 1 ,

?he City Engineer and yae Superintendent of Streets were
instructed to arrange the drainage in the alley running east and
;vest through Block 14 of the old city so that the same would drain
freely.
The Secretary of Lodi Volunteer ire Department notified the
Council that John Schafer had been promoted to Asst.:oreman and H.C.
Diehl to Deputy :ire Marshal. n- t t
A letter from ..._.lalters asking the City to join with other
Cities in attempting to collect a refund of gasoline taxes was
' read but no action ordered.
On motion of Councilman Shattuck -:ieihe second, the City Clerk
:,-as directed to employ John Hieb to re-lay the roof on the old
City Hall building at a cost of 8296.00.
On motion of Councilman Shattuck., Roach second, the eroeosals
of San Joaquin Lumber Companyand Joseph Dotson & Son for the repair
and re-roofing,of the 'Maple eouare Fire House were accepted; the
former being Q415.00 for Jobns-Manville 470 rigid asbestos shingles
and the latter for $75.00 for repair of outside of hose tower.
Three building permits angrega.ting $300.00 for garage build-
ings were granted.
The matter of the collection of story -waters and dirt on the
sidewalks of Oak Street east of Hutchins Street was referred to the
City Engineer and Street Superintendent for recommendation as to
the best method of obviating the nuisance.

for consideration of the purchase of motor street cleaning apparatus
and after their return to the Council Chambers, award -.-ras made to
Jenison :achinery Company of San Francisco for an ":Tin Sweeper"
_he price named in their bid submitted November 188h.,1929y
by the adoption of Resolution No. by the following vote: -
