re-ular ^meeting, of the City Council of the City of
Lodi was called to order by the L:ayor at 8.12 o'clock ? on
the date and at the date first above written, Councilmen -Hale,
Roach, Shattuck;-;eihe and Spooner present, none absent.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held December 21,
1929 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
By unanimous consent the order of Public Hearings :ras
passedand the City Council proceeded to hear the reading of
co:uiunications and reports.
'::.C.Guenthner applied b letter for the position of driver
on the City sweeper, ap_olica'&ion ordered filed.
The report of the City ?oundmaster was received read and
ordered filed also the Quarterly report of the Chiu' and
Secretary of Lodi Volunteer :ire Department.
;7.1.H.Cutts complained of the condition of the alley run-
ning between Elm and`?ine Streets through Block 28 of the orig-
inal City. '.'atter referred to the Superintendent of Streets.
Complaint havinM been filed of the condition of the approach
to a private alley of ?a.School Street near Pine Street and -it
appearing that nrevoius work done by the City in repairing the
curb and .calk at this place had never been paid for as agreed,
on potion of CcunciLnan Shattuck, Roach second, the.City Attorney
was directed to attempt collection of the bill from J.B.Cory.
An annual purchase agreement for watt-hour meters was sub-
mitted by Duncan Electric- Company_ and another for purchase of
electric transformers by General Electric Company. The execut-
ion of the same being recommended by the Superintendent of Public
Utilities, it was regularly moved and seconded that both be
anroved and signed Py the Mayor on behalf of the City.
Three building permits aggregating $350.00 were granted.
Bills in the amount of $11,547.55 as approved by the
auditing committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of
Councilman Hale, Roach second._
At this time a Special Delivery letter from Mr. N.A.
Eckert was received purporting to accompany his final report
on the City's contemplated power plant on the Mokelu<nne River
but as the report did not accompany the letter the same having
been sent by registered mail and delayed, the City Council
adjourned until 8 o'clock PX. of Tuesday January 7th.,1930
to receive the report on motion of Councilman .!eine.
