This regular meeting of he City Council of the City of Lodi was called to order by the :`ayor at 8.05 o'clock P.M. at the place and on the date first above written, CouncilmenHale, Roach, Shattuck eihe and Spooner present, none absent or tardy. The minutes of the meetings of December 2nd. and 3rd. were read, aDproved as read ans so endorsed by the Layor. r. R. A. Smith, Proprietor of Hotel Lodi, asked that he be granted permission to place "Neon" direction signs in the tree spaces on several streets running into Cherokee Lane or on private property. Permission granted in -so -far -as the City had right to grant such permission. Blakely Cil Company letter applied for permission to place two 18,000 gallon t s one for gasoline and one for kerosene on Lots 18 and 19 Bik. 7, Easu Lodi Addition at the corner of Lodi Avenue and Cherokee Lane, the same to be located and installed in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance 168. On motion duly made and seconded, the' permission was granted. lonthly reports of the City Plumbing Inspector were received and ordered 'ilea. The a :plication of '"r. '.T'.Carlton for reduction on license fee for a roller-skating rink was denied. The Superintendent of ?,:blic Utilities was authorized to move a City polefrom the High School field to the athletic field on Stockton and liaple Streets and install a li`,ht thereon. Cr. motion of Councilman Shattuck, '+eihe second the 'Super- intendent of public Utilities ;,as directed to install a street liht at California and Lockeford Streets. On motion of Councilman Roach, Shattuck second, the Super- intendent of Public Utilities was directed to add more lights to the Christmas tree at Svhool and Pine Streets end color the lir.ht- ing ^lobes in the business district. The Street Superintendent; by thie saute motion was directed to assist in attaching trees furnished by the Lodi Business l'en's Association to the down- town lighting standards. The petition of Veterans .Jelfare Board for rebate of taxes against Lot 11, Block 8 of Hutchins High School Addition to Lodi was referred to the City Attorney at the request of the City Clerk. It appearing from a statement of The City Treasurer trans- mitted orally by the City Clerk, that outstanding bonds of the City could be purchased at an advantageous figure, the following resolution :gas- introduced by Councilman Shattuck :- PRSOLUT I0N NO. 604. ETAS pursuant to the provisions of Resolution No. 576 of this City Council adopted "arch 18th.,1929 there was created a ''Special and Purchase Fund" for.the purposes set forth in the said -resolution; 'D,%HEP AS,there is now money in the General Fund of the City sufficient for the usual and ordinary needs of said City and in excess thereof, approximately the sum of $25,000 that could be devoted to the purchase of outstanding obligations of this City. 3E IT RES. L•VED,therefore,that the sum of ;. ENTY-FIVE THOUS- AND DOLLARS be and the same is hereby ordered transferred from the General Fund to said Special Bond Purchase Fund and the City Treas- urer is hereby authorized and directed to purchase therewith such outstanding bondsofthis City as he maybe able to obtain,pref- errably bonds of the issue of 1921 provided, that the price aid for such bonds shall show a net return in interest to this City of not less than 4 'io per annum. Bills in the a oumt of $3 572.41 as—a,—,.)roved by the Fin- ance Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Council -ran :-__-le, Roach second. At this time City Engineer L. .Barzellotti presented a map of the route to be traversed by the contemplated power line from Lancha Plana to Lodi and the some .as adopted and a-iproved by the adoption of the follvaing:- - ?ESCLUT'ION NO. 605, ':17 SAS, L.
