This reEular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi was called to order at 8.10 o'clock P.M. on the date
first above written, Councilmen hale, Roach, Shattuck, .Jeihe
and Spooner present, none absent.
Ehe minutes of .the last regular meeting held September
3rd.,1929 were read, approved as read and so endorsed -by the
Mayor.
The Clerk read a petition signed by several residents
and property owners protesting against the continuance of
the camping ground at the corner of Church and Lockeford
Streets now !raintained by Chas. R. Gray on the property of
D. Beronio alle7ing that the same was a public nuisance and
should be abate as such. After listening to protests against
these premises 'oy Guy .' ?arsons and C.H.Gesler and replies
from Mi Gray and ':r Beronio, the Mayor referred the matter
to the City..ttorney and the Cc ituee on public Health and
Safety for investigation and consultation with San Joaquin
Local Health Distract.
The Clerk read a letter from the State Railroad Com-
mission advising the Council that they should be represent-
ed at a conferance with an engineer from the Conmission and
the engineers of Southern Pacific Company to be held at
Lodi on Thursday morning, September 19th, for the purpose
of investigat rc. methods to safeguard the railroad crossings
in the City. ?Ir .teihe and "r Spooner were directed to be.
present.
The Clerk read the official call for the 31st annual
convention of the League of California ?.:unicipalities to be
held in Oakland, October 7th to llth.
C_n motion of Councilman :iei're, Hale second, the Super-
intendent of Public Utilities was directed to place a street
light at the Nest end of the 400 block of Daisy Avenue.
vPJ IAiA+ NO. 173 "AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES IN THE
YEAR 1929 FOR FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1ST . ,1930" was
brought up for final adoption on certificate of the Clerk
that the sante had been Published according to lav and the
sane vus finally passed and adopted by the following vote: -
AYES: Councilmen,eihe,Shattuck,Hale,Roach R_ S000ner.
FCRS: None ABSENT: None.
After discussion of the present methods of street
oleanin it as regularly moved, seconded and carried that
the Clerk notify ''r .: Hickok that the City contemplated
abandoning the a reenent whereby he is now ennloyed and that
the Superntendent of Streets be also require. -to present
the Council at their next meeting, a comprehensive plan in
writing, setting forth changes in this regard that would make
for e_iiciercy and economy.

Councilman .eihe as Chairman of the Street Committee
returned 'the uniform traffic ordinance as proposed with
recommendations of his co:ittee and the same was again
referred to the City ittorney.
Dills in the amount of $4,121.36 as approved by the
Finance Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion
of Councilman Shattuck, 1eihe second.
The City Council adjourned
