Londay,August 19th.,1929.
Th_s regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Loci was called to order at 6.15 ?.:1. at the place and on the
date first hereinabove written, Councilmen Hale,Roach,Shattuck,
.eihe and Spooner present, none absent.
?he minutes of the last regular meeting held August 5th
were read, a eroved as read and so endorsed oy the Mayor.
Two missionaries of the Church of Christ of Latter Day
Saints aeelied for peroision to held a short meeting in the
interval -between the two sections of Tuesday night's band
concert, the aoolication was ordered granted.
The aoelication of Gloria Ice Cream Company for permis-
sion to erect an electrically lighted sign over the sit.ecralk
at 106 .test Oak Street was granted.
Chief of =olive F. Christesen applied for annual leave
and City Judge J.F,.Hopkins asked that -he be allowed 30 days
leave. Both aepplications ordered granted and on motion of
Councilman : eThe, Roach second :..r Henry Faulkner Ellis .has
aepointed City Judge to hold office during the absence of
nee
Hopkins.
A petition signed by the master bakers of the City asking
that some action be taken to restrain the vending of bread and
bread -stuffs by outside bakeries was referred to the City
Attorney for recommendation.
ie Clerk :las instructed to call a =.eetinn�g of the Finance
Co:m:ittee upon - he return of City Treasurer .1.H.Lorenz for the
Purpose of checkingmoneys and securities listed by him in his
last quarterly report.
The prevalent desire for installation of roof sprinkling
systems with the attendant extra use of -nater as well as the
difficulty of disposing of the run-off was discussed by the
Ccuncil and Superintendent Henning was requested to submit
recaemendations as to rules and rates.
Hills in the amount of $3,695.99 as a_.proved by the
Finance Committee were allowed and ordered paid on motion
of Councilman Hale, :Ieihe second.
Cne building permit in .he amount of 32,500.00 was
granted to Sueer ::.old Corporation for an enlargement to their
zcvndry at 420 N. Sacramento Street.
1:r Glenn .;est, City Attorney advised the Council that
Atkinson Ccnstruction Company was obligated to remove debris
caused by operation of their tram line over City lands in
Ainador Count and by rection duly moved secondedand carried,
he was directed to notify the company that the lands traversed
by their operations must be cleaned up.
lir =lest also stated that 1:r Stephen L. Kiefer had
aeparently abandoned the Arroyo Seco Project and with it his
claims to "_o_kelum:ne River waters but that he could not rec-
commend dismissal of actions against Mr Kieffer until he was
assured that such was the case.
Cn motion of Councilman Zeihe, the City Council adjourned
to the day and hour of their next regular meeting to be eld
Tuesday, September 3rd.,1929, September 2nd. being a holiday.
