Council Chambers -City Council
City Hall, City of Lodi
Monday, August 5th., 1929
This regular meeti. of the City Council of the City of
Lodi convened at 8.15 o'clock P.M. at the place and on the
date first above writtent Councilmen ;gale, Roach, Shattuck
and .ieihe present, Councilman Spooner absent. In ohe absence
of lIayor Spooner Councilman .leihe was unanimously elected
Mayor pro cern and took the chair.
'The minutes of the last regular meeting held July 15th.
1929 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the :ayor.
No persons appearing, the order og Public Hearings was
passed and the Council proceeded to hear communications and
reports.
City Engineer L.F.Barzellotti filed a report on his
investigations -at the dam site above Lancha Plana accompanied
by a profile ma� of the proposed location of the da'n as
recommended by :.:r N.A.Eckar`...
The City Clerk advised the -Council by letter that he
had received the assessment roll from the City, Assessor off}
August 1st. and that it is now open to public inspection
awaiting the sessions of the Board of Equalization beginning -
August l2th.,1929 at 8 o'clock P.M.
Oakland Post of the American Legion invited the Council
to be present in Oakland August 10th to 17th at their annual
celebration.
A letter from Mr .;.J.Robinson Jr. President of the Board
of Directors of -Woodbridge Irrigation District asking that
a date be set for conference relating to the disposal of
effluent and storm waters into their canal be set by the Council;
the City Clerk :las directed to arrange for such a conference
at a date mutually agreeable and when all members of the
Council and the Board of Directors could be present.
It appearing_that there would be a deficiency in the
Street`Asse"ssnent-Bond Fund owing to delinquent tax collections,
and that it would be very advantageous to fhe City to purchase
four $1,000 b+% bonds of the City, as set forth in a letter
from the City Treasurer, the proper transfers were directed
by the passage of:
RESOLUTION NO. 591
RESOLVED, by tie City Council of the City of Lodi :
That the sum of Cne Thousand Three Hundred Fifty-seven
Dollars and Forty Cents ($1,357.40) be and the same is hereby
ordered transferred from the GENERAL FUND of this City to the
STREET ASSESS:!ENT BOND FUND .
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that the sum of Four Thousand Eighty-
seven Dollars and Seventy-three Cents ($4,087.73) be and the
same is hereby ordered transferred from the said GENERAL FUND
to the SPECIAL BOND RETIRE= FUND.
The foregoing Resolution No. 591 was passed and adopted
by the following vote: -
AYES: Councilmen, Rale, Roach Shattuck & .�eihe (Layor)
NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSENT, Councilman Spooner.
Reports of the Chief of Police and of the City Pound -
master for the month of July were received, read and ordered
filed.
The City Clerk and the City Treasurer presented their
reports for the quarter ended June 30th.,1929 and the same
were accepted and also ordered filed.

The Clerk read a series of letters exchan¢ed between
himself and :=.A.'iason Secretary Treasurer of the Leagae of
California 31unicioalities relating to co-aperation between
Cities and >he State of California in the securing of cover-
abe aia.inst the liabilities imposed by a recent act of the
Legislature relating to the Qveration of motor vehicles by
City employees, On motion of Councilman Shattuck, Hale second,
the Clerk was authorized to assure Mr "ason that this City
stood reader to co-operate and ;could like coverage not later
that kuasus" 14th., the date upon which the act becomes effective.
':rs. Susan A. Bawden resented a map of Lodi memorial
Mausoleum and it appearing that the same had been approved
by the Citi -Ilanning Comission, the same las approved by the
adoption of Resolution No. 590 by the following vote:

Three building pernits aggregating $9,250.00 were granted.
Bills in the &nount of $11,545.22 as azproved byy the
Finance Coi-mittee were allowed and ordered paid on mo ion of
Councilman rale, Roach, second.
On Lotion of Councilman Hale, the Council adjourned at
9.51 o'clock PTH.
