Monday, June 17th., 1929.
This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi was called to order at 8.12 o'clock P.M. on the date and at
the place first above written, Councilmen Hale, Roach, Shattuck,
.7eihe and Spooner present, none absent. .
The minutes of the regular meeting of June 3rd.,1929 were
read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
No persons appearing, the order of Public'Hearings was pas-
sed by unanimous consent.
The Clerk read a letter from the Secretary of Lodi Volunteer
!ire Department advising the Council of the results of the annual
elections in the Department. THe list of officers was not approved
at this time, the names being taken under advisement until the
next regular meeting.
The City Plumbing Inspector's report for the month of May
was received, read and ordered filed.
On notice from hiss Am L. Boynton, Librarian of Lodi Public
Library that time terms of office of Messrs George L. Meissner and
E. Gay Villiams would expire July lst.,1929, on motion of Council-
-man .Teihe Shattuck second, both gentlemen were reappointed for
the statutory term.
Lot Lachenmaier having made and delivered to the CityClerk
a deed to a parcel of land at the west end of Locust Stree, the
sane was accepted by the passage of the following: -
RESOLUTION NO. 581
71HE.'AS, Lot Lachennaier and Louisa Lachennaier, his wife,
have made and delivered to the City of Lodi a deed to a portion
of Lot 7 in Block 13 of Hutchins Addition to Lodi, the same to be
an extension of Locust Street westerly from the Jest line of the
Schroeder Tract.
AND +VHERr,AS, Section 1158 of the Civil Code of this State
requires that a certified copy of a resolution of acceptance be
attached to deeds conveying, real Aro erty to municipalities;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ci'f- Council for and on behalf of
the City of Lodi, hereby accepts the said deed to the said real
property and directs that a duly certified copy of this resolution
be attached thereto and the deed recorded in the office of the
County Recorder of San Joaquin County;
RESOLVED also, that the. lands in said deed so conveyed to
the City of Lodi, be, and the same are hereby dedicated to public
use as a public street or road, to be called and to be made a
part of Locust Street in the City of Lodi.
The foregoing Resolution No. 581 was passed and adopted by
the following vote: -
AYES: Councilmen, Shattuck, Weihe, Hale, Roach and Spooner.
NOES: None -
. ABM': None.
It appearing that the property of the Pioneer Fruit Comvany
had been erroneously described in the Assessment Roll for 1928 and
in the Delinquent List as published by the Tax Collector, correct-
ion of the same was authorized and directed by the passage of: -
RESOLUTION NO. 582.
A RESOLUTION DIRECTING CERTAIN CORRECTIONS IN THE ASSESS-
MENT ROLL FOR 1928 AND IN THE DELINQUENT TAX LIST AS RET-
URNED BY THE CITY TAX COLLECTOR '_.FAY 17, 1929.
SAS certain properties assessed to the Pioneer Fruit
Company were described as Lots 1,2,3 and 4, Block A, Subdivision
of Lot 72, Lodi Barnhart Tract;

AND :MREAS, the said description is erroneous in that
certain lands owned by 'Central Pacific Railway Company are
included therein the said lands having been correctly described
in and assessed Jo said Company in the '0perative Roll" for 1928,
therebycreating a double assessment;
ESOLVED, that the tax collector of the Cit of Lodi be,
and he is hereby directed to correct said descri.pTion and to
chaann�e the same upon the Delinquent List and to enter the des-
cri�tion on the Sale List and Certificate of Sale to be issued
by nim on June 29th.,1929 as follows
Pioneer Fruit Company. Subdivision of Lot 72 Lodi Barnhart
r- Tract • Lots 1 2, 3 and 4, Block A, except the 9 '4.8 ft of each
of said lots ana ease t: beg 100 ft W of PdE cor Lot 1, thence

The foregoing Resolution No. 582 Was passed and adopted by
the following vote
AYES: Councilmen: Shattuck Roach, Hale, ,?eihe and Spooner.
NOES: None. ABSZNT : None.
Cn application of A.A.7augh, the City Council directed that
an alley li-ht be installed in the alley between Locust and
Lockeford Meets about 100 ft gest of Garfield Street.
your building•permits aggregating $$6,100.00 were ordered
granted.
Mr. H.E.Looser representing Travelers Insurance; Company
presented two policies 'covering Iiability of the City as to
damage to person or property tFiat might ensue by reason of the
operation of automobiles owned by the City or by employpees who
were compensated for the use of their private automobiles.
It appearing that a recent act of the State Legislature
making the pity liable for acts of its officers and employees
while operat' nngg motor vehicles in the City service would not
take effect uniil August 13th next, this matter was referred
th the City Attorney. and the City 6lerk for investigation.
The Committee on Public Health and Safetyhaving prepared
a set of regulations governing the conduct of he Police Depa.rt-
*ent,resented the same and asked that they be adopted by the
City Council as the regulations of the Cit Police Department;
at the su estion of Chief of Police Christensen, Section 59 of
the Regulations as submitted was amended so as to specify the
hours of active duty required of officers of the department and
the Regulations as so amended were accepted and approved on
motion of Council.,: --an Roach, Veihe second.
.Acting on the recoaTmendation of ger N. A. Eckart' as contain-
ed in a letter from -him to the City Attorney the City Engineer
was directed to compare kir Eckart's recd mended location for the
dam site above Lancha Plana with the location originally planned
by the Colorado rower Company locate the dam on the ground and
specify location and size of test pits for foundation.
It was ordered that the Superintendent of Public Utilities
arrange with the Commander of Lodi Post of the American Legion as
to the proper alarm signal to be sounded in the proposed disaster
tests about to be tried by the Legion and authority to use -the
fire whistle Was granted.
The Clerk was directed to purchase a lawn sweeper for use
in the old City Park, .
The Clerk was directed to adjust the flat water rates charged
apartment house owners so that the present number of vacancies
might be taken into consideration.
