The City Council of the City of Lodi met in regular session
at 8.04 o'clock at the place and on the date first above
o'clock_

Councilman Hale absent.

In the matter of the application of Central California
Traction Company for a revocable per:it to extend a spur track
southerly ori Seaton Avenue across Tokay Street: Yr Gilbert Jones
representing petitioner gave a review of conditions precedent to
filing the a_plioation; Ur A.H.Ste.art representing eouthern
Pacific Company read portions of a petition filed b that company
with the Inter State Conrnerce Cormission in .iashington and
filed a copy of the petition with the Council. Attorneys rep-
resenting he Jestern Pacific and Santa Fe Railroads advocated
immediate pa=sage of the ordinance granting the permit stating

that any matters before the Interstate Ceerce Coemiesion had
no bearing on the granting_of a permit by the City of Lodi.
:r Frank ..ebster and Mr A.H.?ayson also advocated the granting
of the ordinance. At the order of the Mayor, none dissenting,
and on motion duly rade and seconded, all proceedings in this
a plication were laid over until the following Thursday at
8 O'clock F.L.
A committee from Lodi Hospital Association discussed the
location of streets in front of their property at the westerly
end of Locust Street. As petitions were on file signed by numer-
ous citizens protesting the closinngg of Locust Street it was
decided that the views of :Lr Edward Hutchins and of Lr Lot
Lachennaier be obtained before making any permanent chases in
the present logical directions in which Locust, Elm or Crescent
Streets should -be extended.
' r H.S.Jones and Er L.H.Rinn protested orally against the
present "turn on charges" made b • the City for eater and elect-
ricity. The protest was taken under advisement.

A.sociation protesting against the a:location of City 'ands
toward the improvement of Cherokee Lane and asking tnat the
highway direction signs be changed from Lodi Avenue to Pine
Street, also that signs directing. travelers to the "Business
District" be installed at appropriate streets. The Clerk was
directed to cae unioate with the California Automobile Assoc-
iation regarding the moving of the present direction sign from
Lodi Avenue to Pine Street. The installation of business district
signs was put over until the improvement of the highway has been
accomplished.p

Bills in the amount of $`10 203.92 as a)oroved by a majority
of the finance coemittee were allowed and ordered paid on motion
of Counciian Roach Shattuck second.

At the su-estion of Councilman Shattuck, the opening of
the ' unici-aal Bans was left in the hands of the Co-rittee on
Streets ani. Parks to select such a date as might be deemed pract-
iole for the annual opening.
Er J.A.Henning stated that ar H.I.:lagers evidently was
suffering some injustice in the matter of c_narges for water and
the Council fixed ,he rate to be paid at $2.50 monthly.

After discussion of contemplated public improvements
particularly regarding the nea park, the Clerk As E- truclved
to write Mr Ivan Satterlee and nave him prepare a tentative
plan for a grandstand in Lawrence ?ark so tint any improve-
ments made at this time could be ::lade in accordance 73.th
such a plan and ultLzately result in the construction of the
o andstand in units.
The Clerk was also instructed to obtain estLmates for
the construction of a o rage at the 'Taple Square vire house.
