330 Council Chambers City Council City Ha11,Lodi Calif. onray,March 11,1929 This re ular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was cared to order at 8.05 o'clock P.M. on the date and at the place first above written, Councilmen Roach, Shattuck, geihe and Spooner present, Councilman Hale absent on account of illness. The minutes of the last regular meeting held March 4th. were read, approved as read and so endorsed -by the Mayor. The Clerk read a petition from Central California Tract- ion Comppany asking an ordinance granting them a revocable permit to extend their tracks on Seaton Avenue from the pres- ent termination north of Flora Street to a point on the south line of Tokay Street. City Attorney Glenn 'Test addressed the Council stating that he had promised attorneys for the South- ern Pacific Company that they would receive notice and be allowed a chance to protest against granting a franchise on Seaton Avenue. lir S.C.Beane on behalf of the Southern Pacific informally protested against the passage of such an ordinance, contending that the district south of Lodi Avenue was adequate- ly served. Sr Gilbert Jones, representing the Traction Company spoke in favor of the ordinance but did not press its intro- duction. On motion of Councilman Roach, Veihe second, action on this matter was deferred to the date of the next regular meeting so that the Council m&ht investigate further. On recommendation of Superintendent J.A.Henning, the Mayor was authorized to contract with Westinghouse Electric & Man- ufacturing Companyfor the annual supply of Mazda lamps del- ivery to be made hrough Sengstacken electric of No: 6 South School Street, Lodi. In the matter of opening De Force Avenue fram its present easterly termination to North Sacramento Street, the Clerk presented a deed from Mr. Jacob G. Handel and Magdalena Handel, his wife for the lands necessary and the deed was accepted and the land dedicated to street purposes by the adoption of Res- olution No. 575 by the following vote :- AYES: Councilmen, Shattuck, geihe, Roach and Spooner. NOES: Councilmen, None. ABSENT: Councilman, Hale. RESOLUTION NO. 575. '.7HCREAS Jacob G. I- 331 3732 The Clerk read a communication from the President of the Railroad Commission of the State of California addressed to tae Mayor in regard to tae securir�� the services of one of the Commission's Engineers to check up on and suggest a new coi=erciai electric rate for the City, offerinG to allow Mr. Chas. GrsnskyChief of the Gas 3, Electric Division, to do the cork required. On motion of Councilman Roach, .leihe second the Clerk Has directed to carry out the intentions of the council and arrange to have Mr Grunsky meet the Council at an early date. Sir building permits new buildings and alterations, for structures to cost $19,256.00 were granted. Bills in the amount of $3,834.17 as a -proved by a majority of the finance com. ittee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Councilman Shattuck, leihe second. The matter of the installation of a filter to exclude suspended iron in the Haters of the Municipal Baths was dis- cussed at length and Councilman Shattuck m2d Manager Hurrle were authorized to confer with California Filter Company as to the details of installing a filter system that would accomplish the end desired. 0n motion of Councilman Jeihe, the City Council adjourned at 11.35 o'clock P.M. to meet at the next regular meeting to be held April lst.,1929.
