The City Ccupci1 cf the Cite of Lodi met in regular

The minutes e f the regular eteetir� of November 5th. ,1_928
were read, a_proved+as read and so endorsed by the :.ayor.

.Lire Chief 3.C. eueherty addre-zed the Council regarding
teat erre t er rebuilding steres at 33-35 3 Sacramento gtreet
aged :- fire on `ctor lath stating,that, the metal sheathed
building in the rear would be a menace if rebuilt but that the
amount of damage ::as hard to determine. He stated that Yr.
':"adison would not attempt to nse tie cld furnace but intended
to heat with stoves.At she order of the Council, the Clerk was
directed to get in touch with the State Enreau of inmigration
and Housing and have their inspector investi-ate the building
as to its conforming with the State Housing Act.
The Clerk reeorted that he had written and mailed the
letters ordered on cve,;:ber 5th to be written to tha- various
known interests having aepro riative riclets or su_:posed
rights to L okelirne Aver water. Cn notion of Councilman
Shattuck, Poach second, it :was directed that these letters be
written in full into the minutes of this meeting.

?he Clerk was directed to obtain :prices on the cost of
putting a direction arrow and the words LCBI on the roof deck
of the City Hall for the direction cf-aviators.
_Tree buildi e- permits a re-ating 81,100.00 were order-

Bills in the total ancunt of 810 823.75 as a;:iroved by
the finance canmittee were ordered paid or motion of Council-
man Shattuck, :;eine second.
u`r. : E.Looser, Fire :arshal, Secretary and spokesman
for Lodi Vc unteer Fire Department addressed the Council on
the need of a service trucl for use in conveying hese and
materials to and from fires. He also applied for the a:,point-
ent of two edtra drivers so that the east side truck :could
be manned at a' i tires. 7r Looser stated that the oresen_t
location of the ].ar_e ertensicn ladder was veru inconvenient
and after the dissc;.v sicn cf other locations, it :fez decided
to plan for its storage at ,fe :aple Square fire house.The
application of ' : Looser for two sets of lineman's equipment
to be used at fires ,las referred to Superintendent Henning

Cn notion of Councilman .ieihe, the Volunteer Department
was Eiven charge of the cld 'City Hall.
Councilman ..-eine asked as to what stens had been taken
for additional fire mains in the Northwest part of the Cityy,
Superintendent Henning stated that he had purposely delayed
this work so that local Wen employed in the grape harvest
could be obtained instead of using transients and that he
would be ready to proceed with the work by the first of the
year.
