The minutes cf the retuiar meeting of October 3rci..19Z7 ware read, aperoved as real and so endorsed by the Mayor. No persons appearing at this time, the order of rublic Hearings las parsed and `he Council heard the reading of the :o:.lowing cuenunications: The applications of Jch_n Kielpfel and Jacob Hepper for the positicr. of janitor at the neer City Hall, both referred to the Clerk's files. A letter from Elmer J. Dawson, Secretary of Lcdi Parlor i• o,ld N,S,G. "l. re.earding the failure to display flags at the curbs in the business district on Admission Day, referred to the Clerk with the direction that he advise the P:ative Sons that the use of the flags had been restricted by direction given the Chief of Police by tine American Legion, to five nol_days t,dmission Day being not included, A_so to advise them tnai; the City would gladly have the flags displayed on' this day if the parlor mould obtain the Legion's sanction. A letter =ran Lodi Far'. Company tendering, the City one dozen Japanese Cherry shrubs for planting on the new Citi Hall graurds for whicn the Clerk was directed to tender the thanks o: the City. A deduction of 8650.00 and an addition of 829.CO to the ;;eneral contract for the new City Hall was ordered by the approval of Orders ?'_o. 2 & 43 as submitted by the architects on motion of Councilman .ieihe, seconded by Councilman Shattuck. In the matter cf the bronze plaque to be mounted in the main corridcr of the new City Hall,the Clerk was directed to have the architects submit a tentaive drawing for approval by the Council, �'_'ine building permits for dwellings and garages to a total value of $7,025.00 were allowed and ordered granted. City,?rgineer L.F.Barze_lotti presented his plan for the lay cut of 1,awrence ?ark and 'Christian Rageth being present, he .ras asked to submit a list of shrubs and trees chosen by 3arzelloti and himself ':rith price list for approval by the Council. ;;t this time the Council went into executive session ei tri executive officers of Lodi Volunteer Fire Department for gocd.of the service. After opening atain in public session, bills in the total amount of S 8 , 933 72 as a proved by the finance committee were allowed and ordered paid -on motion: of Councilman Hale. C.r±sgg to the sudden death of E.J.Stahl, janitor at the Carnegie Library, and it being deemed to be to the City's int rest that the position be combined with that of caretaker at the new City Hall when completed, et was unanimously agreed o confirm the aceoirtnent of Eimer Tucker Sr at this ime as caretaker at the City Hall and recommend him to the Library Board for a:; ointment to tie vacancy first ref erred to. hie a e.ointmeYt'to the City =all oosition being conditioned on the reaching of a mutually satisfactory wage.
