ONDtY OCTOBER -1927
This regular meeting; of the City Council of the City of
Lodi was called to order ov the Mayor at d.03 o'clock P.M. on
the above written date, all members present at roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of September 19th.
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
D.B.Doepke again appeared in regard to the odors from dry-
ing sludge at the Sewage Disposal Plant. He offered his twenty
acre farm to the City at a price to be determined bythree
appraisers, one from the City, one chosen by himseland the
third to be named by the first two.
Reports of the Chief of Police and City Plumbing Inspect-
or for the month of September were read and ordered filed; the
Secretary of the Lodi Volunteer Fire Department filed his report
for the quarter ended September 30th.
The Clerk read the decision of the State Railroad Commiss-
ion in the matter of the granting of permission to Southern
Pacific Company for a wye track crossing Lockeford and Main
Streets. In the matter of the protection of the California Street
cro:sing by the installation of an automatic flagman, the Clerk
was directed to a)ply to the Commission for a modification of
this part of the order whereby the flagman would be omitted as
the crossing is an open one and bears out little traffic.
The applications of Herbert Grace for the position of
Traffic Officer and of J. Bolander tor Janitor were ordered
f iled.
Chief of Police Christesen orally recommended the appoint-
ment of W. Roy Coffman as Policeman and on motion of Councilman
Shattuck, seconded by Councilman leihe, the recommendation was
approved and Mr. Cofiman appointed at the salary nowpaidto
patrolmen. The Clerk was directed to obtain a siren for the new
officer's motorcycle.
A delegation from the Lodi Real Estate Board appeared at
this time and asked that the City install a deposit system in
lieu of the present guarantee on water and light bilis. They
also protested against the installation of water meters. -
Bills, as approved by the finance committee, in the amount
of $13,b03.79 were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Council-
man Shattuck, seconded by Councilman Roach.
On motion of Councilman Shattuck, seconded by Councilman
'7eihe, the Board adjourned at 10.55 ?.M.
