Monday, September 6th., 1927
This regular meeting of the City. Council of the Cit of
Lodi was called to order by the Mayor at b.On o'clock on the
above written date, Co;.ir..^,i:^_'en Hale, Roach, Shattuck, .leihe
and Mayor Spooner present. none absent.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of August
22nd.,1927 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the
Mayor.
No persons beim in attendance, the order of Public Hear-
ings .vas passed and the Council proceeded to hear the reading
of communications and reports:
The Daughters of 'inion Veterans asked by letter that the
Council attend this evening at the band platform in the City
?ark and receive a United states Flag to be presented the City
by their orgainzation• at the suggestion of Councilmaneieihe.
it was decided to declare a recess at 8.30 P.M. and attend the
meeting.
The Clerk read an offer of Pacific Electric Clock Company
e— o;i_-- prices on electrically controlled clock system for the
new City Hall.
Pacific "as Fe Electric Company applied for permission to
lay a 6" high pressure gas main from the present gas plant on
and along Spruce Street to School Street and thence South on
that street to the City limits following the inside of the curb
lines. On mo*.,_on of Councilman 7eihe, seconded by Councilman
Roach, the permission was granted.
August Boether applied for the position of janitor at the
new City Hall.
The report of the Chief of Police for the month of Aug-
ust eras received, read and ordered filed.
The City Clerk °resented his annual report of the finan-
cial transactions of the City for the fiscal year ended June
30th.,1927 and on motion of Councilman Roach, seconded by Coun-
cilman ;'leihe, the same was accepted and ordered printed.
Three building permits totalling $950.00 were granted.
In the matter of the acquisition of land at the North -
.vest corner of C :arch and Loc'keford Streets for the straighten-
ing of_ the corb lines, City Attorney Glenn :`lest having preoared
a resolution accepting the land necessary as deeded the City by
D. Beronio and wife, the said resolution .as passed and adopt-
ed as Resolution No. c24 by the following vote: -

Councilmen. Shattuck,Neihe,Hale,Roach and'layor
Spooner.
Councilmen, Mone. ABSENT: Councilmen, NONE.

Oouncil:nan Shattuck spoke in advocation of a large let-
tered sign on the roof of tiie City's baths for the direction
of aviators, also direction signs on Cherokee Lane informing
autoists of the City's location.
At 8.3b P'1. a recess ias declared so that the Council
might accept a flag to be tendered the City.
The City Council returned to the Council chambers at
9.00 o'cloc'.kM. and proceeded to consider the matter of
the annual budget and the tax rate for 1927-28
ORDINANCE No, 160 " AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES IN THE YEAR
1927 FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1 - 1928 " was read and

Bills in the amount of $17,367.99 as a proved by the finan-
ce co:mittee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Council-
man Roach, seconded by Councilman ,reih5.
Cn motion of Councilman .Ieihe, .he Council adjourned until
