Monday, August 22nd.,1927.
The City Council of the City of Lodi met in adjourned
regular session at 8.10 o'clock P.M. on the above date,
Councilmen Roach, Shattuck, Weihe and Mayor Spooner present,
Councilman Hale, absent.
The minutes of the regular meeting of August 15th.
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
The Clerk presented and read at length the specific-
ations ordered for opera chairs, safe and floor coverings.
On motion of Councilman Shattuck, seconded by Councilman
''ieihe, the specifications for opera chairs and record safe
were approved and adopted after striking out the words,
"or more" after the words one hundred in line 3 of paragraph
(1).
On motion of CouncilmanShattuck, seconded by Councilman
,leihe, the specifications as presented, for floor coverings
ryas adopted after substitutiig the word "owner"- for "arch-
itect"wherever the latter word occurred in the specification.
On recommendation of the architect, Extra No.l in the
amount of $95.00 being for installation of a wash basin in
the Board of Health's roams and the moving of a cabinet also
therein was allowed and ordered approved.
Otto Gerzveske applied for the position as janitor of
the new City Hall:
The Lodi Business dens Association asked that the Council
increase the allowance made the Tokay Bank for concerts. This
communication was laid over to be considered at the time of
adopting the annual budget.
The Clerk was instructed to write the Sacramento Bee
in regard to the visit of their news boys to this City on
the Sunday preceeding, stating that they were ever welcome
to the hospitality o: the City.
•Cn•motion of Councilman ,Veihe, seconded by Councilman
Shattuck, the Baths were allowed to expend the sum of $53.15
for signs to be inted on the Bath House Building and on
two road signs at approaches to the City.
City 7. Eineer L.F.Barzellotti presented a sketch of
the lands necessary to be taken to widen the intersection of
Lockeford and Church Street. He was instructed to get in
touch with Mr. D. Berorio, owner of the property, and see if
some arrangement could be made toward the acquisition of
land necessary on Lockeford Street from the same parcel,
preferable by exchange for the narrowing of Pleasant Avenue.
Superintendent J.a.Henniri asked that the Council
donate heaters for Garfield Scnool to be installed with the
idea that the success of this plant would eventually cause
all school buildings to come to electric heating. He was
instructed to obtain the approval of the Board of Grammar
School Trustees to a lease contract for the heaters.
-On motion of Trustee Weihe, the Board adjourned until
6 o'clock P.M. of Tuesday, September 6th.,1927 as the regular
meeting of the Council for the first ;Monday in September would
fall upon a holiday.
