M onday,August 15th.,1927
The City Council of the City of Lodi met in regular
session at 8.03 o'clock ?.M. on the above date, Councilmen
Hale, Roach, Shattuck, 7eihe and Mayor Spooner present, none
absent.
The minutes of the regular meeting of August lst.,1927
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Mayor.
Fire Chief E.H.Stark asked that he be allowed to pur-
chase a new battery for truck No. 2, the battery now in use
being,beyond repair. Application allowed.
Mr. D. Beronio offered to deed the City sufficient land
on the Church Street front of the old Hemphill propertyto
make'the Jest line of Church Street meet the line of Bock 1
of the original City at the intersection of Lockeford and'
Church Streets, providing that the City attended to the paving
of the triangle of land that would be added to the intersect-
ion also, for the sun of $700.09, he would deed sufficient
sand on the Lockeford Street face of the same property to
make the North line of Lockeford Street even with the property
of G.B. Focacci. At the order of the Council, the City Engin-
eer was directed to survey the land necessary to be taken to
straighten out the Test line of Church Streeand prepare
a description from which the City Attorney might prepare a
deed; the matter of the Lockeford Street front was taken under
advisement.
The Lodi Horseshoe Club applied to the Council for space
in the City Park for horseshoe games. The matter was referred
to the committee on parks for recommendation.
J.:7.i?eath applied by letter for the position of janitor
at the_new City Hall.
The Clerk read quotations from Standard Electric Time
Company and Automatic Selt' :rinding Clock Company on a clock
system for the new City Hail.
A communication from J.H.Miller of the Sacramento City
Council inviting all the City Council to attend the sessions
of the Convention of the League.of California Municipalities
to be held in that City September 19th. to 23rd. was read.
Sim building permits totalling $1,450.00 were allowed.
2 City Attorney GTemn .lest reported that the suit of the
County of San Joaquin against the City of Lodi for return of
certain moneys collected as fines for violation of state laws
had been dismissed by the District Attorney on order of the
Board of Supervisors.
Cn motion of Councilman Shattuck. seconded by Councilman
7eihe, the Clerk was directed to prepare specifications for
the purchase of 100 opera chairs, More or less, for install-
ation in the auditorium of the Chamber of, Cmmnerce quarters
on the second floor of the New City Hall and also for a fire-
proof chest or safe for the Engineer's office.
Cr. motion of Councilman Shattuck, seconded by Councilman
7eihe, the Clerk was directed to prepare saecificaions under
-which the floor coverings of the new City Hall would be furnish-
ed and submit the same to the Council on August 22nd. 1927.
Bills in the amount of $2.928.81 as aooroved by the
Committee on Finance and Revenue were allowed on motion of
Councilman Hale, seconded by Councilman 5eihe.
Cn 'notion of Councilman Shattuck seconded by Councilman
Yeihe, the Board adjourned until 8 o'clock ?.d. of Monday.
