HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - June 6, 1927City Hall,Cityof Lodi Monday, June th.,1927 This regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi was called to order by tOe President at 8.09 o'clock P.M. at the place and on the date first above written, Trust- ees Hale. Roach, Shattuck, Weihe and Spooner present,.the latter presiding. On motion of Trustee r+eihe, seconded by Trustee Shattuck and carried unanimously, reading of the minutes of previous meetings was postponed to a later date and the Board proceed- ed to publicly open and canvass the sealed proposals receiv- ed up to the hour of 8 o'clock P.M. for the construction of a new City Hall in accordance with notice duly published in the Lodi News. (8) F.H.Betz 68,880.00 1527 - 21st.St..Sacramento (9) F.B.Zink 58,903.00 169 7.Pine St., Stockton (10) J.H.Carpenter :52,549.00 29 B.-Jillow St., Stockton (11) W.J.Scott '55,695.00 36 N.Sutter St.,Stockton (12) Herndon & Finnegan 62,369.00 1814-17th.,8t.,Sacramento On motion of Trustee Shattuck, seconded by Trustee .Jeihe, the Clerk was directed to return bidding deposits of all bidders excepting those of three lowest bidders, viz: J.H.Carpenter, Cary Bros., and ff.J.Scott, whose proposals were taken under advisement until Thursday, June 9th.,1927. Motion carried unanimously. In the matter of the sale and removal of the frame building at No.223 nest Pine Street the Clerk reported but one proposal, that of Briggs .Porter bidding $80.00 for the building and agreeing to remove the large fig tree on the lot that would be in the way of construction of the new building. en motion of Trustee Shattuck seconded by Trustee Neihe, the building was ordered sold to Mr. Porter, the same to be removed within the time limit set in the advertisement. Six building permits-egating $10,410.00 were allowed. One of the permits a!vliedfor, that of Le Moin Beckman to erect a gasoline service station at Pine & School Streets called for the removal of fiftyfeet of curb and gutter on each street. On motion of Trusee 'lleihe, seconded by Trustee Roach Mr. Beckman was granted the permit with the restriction that but twenty-four feet of curb be used on each street for entrance purposes instead of the fifty feet applied for, the twenty-four toot entry ways to be made accessible by aprons spanning the gutters. On poll of the oral vote of the members of the Board, the motion carried, President Spooner voting "No". Reports from the Marshal and Poundmaster were submitted, read and ordered filed. J.C.Jacobson applied for the position as building inspect- or on the new City Hall; application ordered filed. (::;inutes of meeting of June 6th. ,continued) ?23 Superintendent J.A.Hexming reported that the Byron -jack - son mm on the river bank suppplving the Municipal Baths with water was in such a bad state that a break -down might be expected at any minute; on motion of Trustee eeihe, secon- ded by Trustee Shattuck, he was authorized to turn in the old pump and motor and secure a neer-ouap and motor from the Atlas Iron ,'forks immediately so as tb insure continuous operation of the baths. Bills in the total amount of $9,552.54 as approved by a majority of the auditing covnittee were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Trustee �eihe, seconded by Trustee Roach.
