Monday, August 25,1924.

Pursuant to adjournment from the regular meeting of August
l8th.,1924, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi met in
adjourned regular session at 8.15 o'clock F.M. on the above
.date; all members present.
The minutes of the regular meeting of August 18th. were
read, approved as read and so endorsed by the President.
Dr. J.E.Nelson, as Trustee of San Joaquin Local Health
District rendered a detailed report covering the activities of
the Health Department for the past year.
Fire'Chief E.H.Stark applied for•leave of absence -for one
week to attend the state convention of Fire Chiefs; none dis-
senting, leave as applied for was -granted.
Fred Post, resident attendant at the sewage disposal
plant made a verbal statement as to icreased sewage flow owing
to the refuse from the Lodi Canning Company; the Clerk read
a letter from City Engineer Barzellotti dealing with the same
matter. Handling of this increase and a settlement of the amount
that should be born by the cannery was left to the Committee on
Public Utilities, after the Clerk had been instructed to secure
a release• from the lease on the northerly two acres of the farm
held by G.B.Vallerga for the installation of additional drying
beds, the latter to be constructed at once pending putting the
Peck dryer in condition for use.
Ben Rodacker made a second application for the position
of truck driver in the Fire Department.
The test made by the Fireunderwriters of the Pacific on
the new fire truck being satisfactory, the Board accepted del-
ivery of same and instructed the department to store it in the
engine room at the Sacramento Street fire house.
The Board then proceeded to consider the possible expend-
itures for the coming fiscal year, fixing the tax rate at
W1.60 per $100.00 by the introduction of Ordinance No 147:

-;as introduced on motion of Trustee Hale, and by the same motion
laid over for not less than five days.
It appearing that there was a shortage in the Street Assess-
ment Bond Fund of $2,289,85 owing to delinquencies in the 1923
tax list; that amount was transferred from the General Fund to
the Street Assessment Bond Fund by the passage of Resolution No,
462 by the following -vote: -
AYES: Trustees, Shattuck, settler, Hale, Roach and Spooner.
NOES: Trustees, None. ABSENT: Trustees, None.

UNDER A CMAIN CONTRACT DATED AUGUST 9th.,1922 " was introduced
by Trustee Shattuck and passed and adopted by the following vote: -
AYES: Trustees, Shattuck, Roach, Hale, Mettler and Spooner.
NOES: Trustees, None, ABSEFT Trustees, None,
Two building permits for dwelling and garage were granted;
estimated cost to be $3,400.00.
Bills of Seagrave Company for neer truck and E.H. Stark for
expenses, having been laid over from the previous meeting, were
allowed and ordered paid in the aggregate amount of $10,486.25.
On motion of Trustee male, the Board adjourned until 8.00
o'clock P,?i. of Tuesday, September 2nd., 1924, the first Monday
in September being a holiday,
