Monday, August 18 -1924
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lodi for the third;onday in August was called to order at
8.15 o'clock P.M, by the Clerk; Trustees Hale, Lettler, Roach
and Shattuck present; Trustee Spooner absent. On motion of
Trustee Mettler, seconded by Trustee Hale and unanimously
carried, Trustee Shattuck was elected President pro -tem of
the Board and took the chair, oening the meeting with a call
for the minutes of the preceeding meeting.
The minutes of the regular meeting of August 4th were
read. approved as read and so endorsed by the President pro -tem.
L. T. Mason, on behalf of several migratory workers who
had been camped at Smith's Lake, advised the Board that that
place had been closed to campers and asked that the City take
some action tword establishing a carping place. After some
discussion, 1'r Mason was informed that no action could be taken
by the City in this matter.
In the matter of the improvement of Central Avenue, Gar-
field Street and Harold Street as undertaken under Resolution
of Intention No. 67 and the improvement of a portion of Cent-
ral Avenue under Resolution of Intention No. 68, the Clerk
reported no protests filed against the issuance of bonds to
represent the unpaid assessments. Issuance of bonds was ord-
ered by the passage of the following resolutions: -

file in the office of the City Clerk together with other pro-
ceedings anpertinent thereto.
Cor_r.unications from the president and Secretary of the
City Planning Commission relative to the rurchase of Smith's
Lake as a municipal park were read and ordered. filed.
John S. Shehan applied for the position of truck driver
in she Fire Department.
Four buildirg permits totalling $1,600 were prdered granted.
Bills amounting to $3,069.86 were alloyed and ordered paid
on motion of Trustee Hale.
On motion of Trustee Hale, the board adjourned until
8 o'clock P.M. of Monday. August 25th., 1924,
