The Trestees of the City of Lodi met in regular session on the above date at the hour of 8.10 ?.M., Trustees 'settler, Roach, Shattuck and Spooner present; Trustee ale absent The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of June 23rd were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the President. This being the date set by notices duly published and mailed for the hearing of protests against the assessments as filed by the Street Superintendent in the matters of the imp- rovement of a portior. of Central Avenue, Garfield and Harold Streets and that part of Central Avenue lying south of Vine Street; the clerk reeorted no protests and the Board approved the assessments severally and ordered the Street Superintendent to issue a warrant to the contractors for the collection of the amounts due him by the passage of the following resolutions: ?.ES LIT'ION N0. 455 RESOLUTION APPROVING AND CONFIRMING ASSESS= BE IT RESOLED, by the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi, that the assessment prepared by the Superintendent of Streets and filed with the City Clerk on June 17th.,1924 to pap the cost and expenses of the improvement of portions of Central Avenue, Garfield. Street and Harold Street,(as described in Res- olution of Intention No.67 of said Board of Trustees, passed and adopted November 26th.,1923), be and.the same is hereby confirm- ed and aeproved as prepared,* the Board of Trustees being satis- fied with -the correctness of the assessment. (The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: - A'S: Trustees Shattuck, :settler, Roach and Spooner. Trustee Hale absent. RESCIUT =0i NO. 457 .ISCLuT=CTI APPROVING AND CON=ING A3SESaY.ENT. 3E IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi that the assessment prepared by the Superintendent of Streets and filed with the City Clerk on June 17th. ,1924, to pay the cost and expenses of the improvement. of a portion of Central Avenue, as described in Resolution of Intention No.68 of said Board of Trustees passed and adopted January 21st.,1924 be and the same is hereby confirmed and approved as prepared, the Board of Trustees teing satisfied with the correctness of the assessment. ( The foregoing resolution :.as adopted by the following vote: - AYES: Trustees, Sha_tuck, Roach, ?settler and Spooner. Trustee Hale absent. Co^runicat i ons : The Haydon Company applied for the insurance on the new fire engine house. Cor.-nunication ordered filed. 77 18 - - Reports of the City Larshal and -:'our were received, read and ordered filed. Representatives from local business houses and the G ewell Fire Alarm ie legra , Company appeared before the Board in support of a proposition submitted by the latter for the installation of either twenty five or fifty fire alarm boxes with central station and necessary wiring and equipment. After open discussion, the matter was taken under advisement until the tine for the setting of the tax rate. After lengthy discussion of the erection of corrugated iron structures wi:,hin the fire zone, particularly on South lain Street, the Marshal and Fire Chief were instructed to proceed with the removal of illegal buildings as provided by ordinance, Five building permits for buildings at a total cost of $6,650,00 were ordered granted. On motion of Chairman of the Finance CovLnittee ;settler, bills as audited amounting to $13,037.17 were allowed and ordered paid. On motion of Trustee Shattuck, the Board adjourned to the day and hour of the next regular -meeting. Attest:- V o City Clerk.
