City Hall, City of Lodi
Eonday, May 19-1924
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
City of Lodi for the third Monday in May was called to order
by '.he President at 8 o'clock P.M. on the date and at the
place first above written; Trustees Hale,Roach,Shattuck and
Spooner present; Trustee Mettler absent on account of illness.
The minutes of the regular meeting of May 5th were read,
approved as read and so endorsed by the ?resident.
Public Hearings:
Supervisor J.'7.Stuckenbruck, on behalf of the day nur-
sery established by the Exchange Club, applied for financial
aid for that institution; his a_)peal was referred to the
Committee of the whole for consideration;
Mr. J.F.Jatson presented tentative plans for a new
fire house in Maple Square and on motion of Trustee Shat-
tuck, seconded by Trustee Roach, Mr Jatson was authorized
to prepare a more camplete plan and present it to the Board
at a meeting to be held on .Jedensday, May 21st.
Coni cat ions :
A petition fromVoth and seven other residents
on Garfield Street, south of Vine Street asking that water
service be extended as far as Poplar Street ;las read and
referred to the Committee on Public Utilities for invest-
igation as to its necessity; Superintendent Henning advised
that the extension asked would cost about $2,200.00.
The report of the City Plumbing Inspector was read
and ordered filed.
The City Engineer presented a izap of a subdivision of
a block of land nest of block 7,Eoran-Handel Tract with a
letter recommending its adoption as a legal subdivision.
This plat was then approved and adopted by the passage
of:

HANDEL TRACT
7IE .EAS- a plat of a subdivision of a cit yy block adj-
oining Block/,Moran-Handel Tract, entitled "HANDEL TRACT
has been presentedto the Board of Trustees of -the City of
Lodi for its ab�opproval;
AND THER1AS, the City Planning Commission has recom-
mended the a-oproval and adoption of said plat as an official
map of the same;

BE IT RESOLVED, therefore, that this Board of Trustees
accept the donation for public use forever of all streets and
alleys set forth in said lat and hereby adopts said plat as the
official man of the said ract of land;
BE IT-A1:S0 RESOLVED, that the President of this Board be,
and he is hereby directed and authorized to endorse this app-
roval upon said map.
The foregoing resolution :las adopted by the following
vote:-
AYE3 Trustees, Shattuck,,Hale,Roach,Spooner,
NOES; Trastees, None. ABSENT': Tr-_istees, Mettler.
The Clerk as collector of the .rater and light revenues,
brought up the matter of the many complaints from rooming house
proprietors as to their being classed as "hotels" and suggested
that these Maces be charged upon a basis of $1.50 plus a charge
of 10d per room; Superintendent Henning mentioned the fact that
he had received many requests for a lower rate on vacant houses
where it was desired to keep up lawns. After discussion, the
lodging house rate was fixed as above stated but the rate for
vacant dwellings left as at present, it being conceded that
the water rate was already low enough on dwellings,
Bills amounting to $3,428.11, as approved by the finance
coy*^ittee, were allowed and ordered paid on mdtion of Trustee
Shattuck, seconded by Trustee Hale,
L-a.rs'r_al Christesen :las instructed to submit the Board,
at its next meeting, a list of vacant lots where weeds were
allowed to become a menace.
On notion of Tr.stee 1 attuck, the following persons
were named as a citizen's con:ittee on play -grounds, to co-
operate with the Board in the supervision of play -grounds:-

In the matter of the a_�plication of the Exchange Club
day Nursery's appeal for funds,' on motion of Trustee Shattuck,
seconded by Trustee Roach, the Board set aside the sum of $50:00
to be allowed on presentation of billsof that amount.
On motion of Trustee Shattuck, the Board adjourned until
8 o'clock P.Y. of 7edensday, ; ay 21, 1924.
