Pursuant to adjournment from the regular meeting of
Aeril 21st. ,1924, the board of Trustees of the City of Lodi
met in adjourned regular session at 3 o'clock P.M. on the
date and at the place first above written: Trestees Eettler,
leach, Shattuck and Spooner present, Trustee Hale absent.
The minutes of the re, alar meeting of April 21st were
read, approved as read and so endorsed by the President.
This being the date set for reception of proposals for
painting the ceilings at the Public Baths, the clerk reported
but one proposal received, that of Torn Van Ribber, and on
the opening and declaring of the same, the price Quoted be-
ing 6398,85 for first coat and $319,20 for second coat, all
bids were declared rejected as the price was far in excess of
estimate.

the curb returns at the Central Avenue end of %aple Street
and matters concern the street grade on Central Avenue
north of Vine Street. The Presic:ert referred his complaint
to the Street Committee and City Engineer for investigation.
H,C,Snyder also objected to the filling behind the
concrete curbs on Garfield Street; this was also referred to
the Street Committee,
Guss G. Jones aplied by letter for the :position of
truck driver in the fire department; ao5lication ordered
filed.
Trustee Sha .tuck brou`;ht up the matter of the condit-
ion of the intersect on of Sargent Road and Hutchins Street.
The Presi_ent of the Board informed '_-r Shattuck that Er.
'_?. S. wail, the Co_inty -Engineer, had informed him that this
:atter would be attended to upon the com Flet ion of the
County's work, now under ,.ay, on Sargent Road. The Clerk was
directed to write the County high. ay Department and assure

them that the City would bear its expense of the work .
-'resident Spooner mentioned the necessity of a?pointing
a citizen's play -ground coir..:ittee, sweeesting that the same

be made up of present active members with o'ficial sanction of
the Board as to membership. Trustee I-attuck as asked to have a
meeting of parties interested called and have a list of the
proposed members of the play -ground co=ission proposed to
the Board for an'P ointment.
Engineer C. Lee Peck presented a verbal progress report on
itis operations at the se'.iage disposal plant, stating that the
present system of discharging the contents of the old septic
tanks was causing some difficulty in the operation of the
activated sludge plant, it aeind very slow and causing some
screen cor�ggestion, he recommended that the process be contin-
ued however, if the same met with the approval of the State
Bureau of Sanitary rngineeririg as it was m'aeh cheaper than
any other method of clearing the old tanks. He also reported
that Ur Gilliam Baker -,-,as trilling to enter into a ten year
contract for the ;linter sludge product of the plant and
advised the Board that this proposal be accepted as a cheap
method of disposing of slud,Qe at a time schen other means
would be e=ensive.i;o action taken.
Three building permits for b_:ildings ata total cost of
$3;250.00 were crd--red granted.
