Monday,August 16th.,1926.
This regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
City of Lodi was called to order at 8.15 P.M. on the above date,
Trustees Teihe, Roach and Shattuck present, Trustees Hale and
Spooner absent. Trustee Shattuck presiding as President pro -tem.
The minutes of the regular meeting of August 2nd.,1926
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the President.
Bngineer C.S.Pope of the Southern Pacific Company pre-
sented plans -and specifications prepared by his office and
approved by the City Engineer for the improvement of Lockeford
Street east of the present improved portion to the easterly
City limits. Thelans and specifications were approved and the
Southern Pacific Uompany.and F.H.Cordway were authorized to
have the work done by private contract under the supervision
of the City Engineer by the passage of Resolution No. 500 by
the following vote:
AYES: Trustees,Roach, Meihe and Shattuck.
NOES: Trustees None. ABSENT: Trustees Hale & Spooner.
Clark & Henery Construction Company applied for an
extension of ninetydays in which to complete their contract
on 'Gest Pine Streeand the request being accompanied by consent
of bondsmen the request was granted by the passage of Resol-
ution No. 71 E by the following vote:-
AYES: Trustees,Roach,Weihe and Shattuck.
NOES: Trustees, None.ABSENT: Trustees,Hale & Spooner.
The assessment diagrams displaying the lands assessed
for the improvement provided byResolutions of Intention No's.
70 and 71 having been filed wih the City Clerk.on August 14th.,
the diagrams were approved and the Clerk authorized to publish
the notices of hearing required by law bu the passage of the
following: -

Diagram and Authorizing Pab1ication of Notice of Filing by the
following vote: -
AYES: Trustees, Roach, =7eihe and Shattuck.
NOES: Trustees, None. ABSENT: Trustees Hale & Spooner.
The Clerk read a petition signed by W.P.Lancaster. and
eight other residents of First Street asking for an additional
street light on that street. Petition was ordered granted prov-
ided petitioners advanced one-half the cost of installation.
Bills in the amount of $2,593.63 as approved by a maj-
ority of the finance committee were allowed and ordered paid on
motion of Trustee Roach, seconded by Trustee lleihe.
Trustee Shattuck brought up the matter of more vigorous
efforts to close the Chinese gambling houses =Main Street,
particularly at 14 No. Main Street. The City.Attorney was inst-
ructed to commence abatement proceedings against notorious
premises or same similar action against the owners of places
where the law was being violated.
Trustee Shattuck also again brought up the matter of
the bill rendered Lodi Canning Company for disposal of indust-
rial waste from their planta the City's Sewerage Disposal
Plant. The Clerk was instructed to ask executive members of
this company to meet with them on August 23rd. or pay the bill
as rendered for 1924.
On motion of Trustee Roach,seconded by Trustee Weihe,
and at the request of the Superintendent of Public Utilities,
the Clerk was directed to advertise for the necessary 12 inch
concrete pipe to construct a storm drain from Sacramento Street
alleyto Oak Street via the alley running through between Oak
and alnut Streets.
On motion of Trustee Veihe the Board adjourned until
8 o'clock P.M. of Monday August 2 d.,1926.
