City Hall, City of Lodi
Tuesday, July 6th., 1926.
This regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lodi was called to order by the President at 8.15 o'clock
P.M.; Trustees Roach, Shattuck, Teihe and Spocner present,
Trustee Hale, absent.
The minutes of the regular meeting of June 21st.,1926
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the President.
Gio B. Vallerga,•representing, Lodi Sanitary Scavanger Co.
anpeared before the Board and applied for an extension of his
ceroany's present contract for garbage collection as they des-
ire to purchase additional motor equipment.
On motion of Trustee Shattuck, seconded by Trustee ,leihe,
and carried unanimously, the President and Clerk of the Board
were authorized to cancel the existing contract and enter into
new neagreement of the same nature of the present one but for
the period of five years from July 1-1926.
Reports of the Marshal and ?oundmaster for the month of
June were.received, read and ordered filed; the report and
accom]$aa_ny:ng inventory of apparatus of the Fire rrilef and the
Secretary or. the Lodi:Volunteer Fire Department for the fiscal
year ;were also presented, read and ordered filed.
Cn motion of Trustee Shattuck, seconded 'Ty Trustee Roach,
J. H. Baker :;as aoRginted relief track driver for six weeks on
recommendation of Fire Chief Stark.
A list of officers elected and appointed by the Lodi Vol-
unteer Fire Department at their last annual meeting ,Has resent-
ed to the Board for approval and confirmation. At the order of
the President, the Clerk .las instructed to ask the officers of
the Fire Department to meet with the Board at 8 o'clock P.M. of
Monday, July 12th., for consideration of the proposed consolid-
ation of the offices of Fire Chief and Fire_'1.rs1a1.
Union ice Company applied for permission to store gasoline
in metal tanks beneath the surface of the ground at their dis-
tribution plant, Sacramento and 'Falnut Streets. On motion of
Trustee .7eihe, seconded by Trustee Shattuck, the permit was ord-
ered granted.
An application from `rational Audit and Appraisal Company
for penoieelon to surrnit estimates for an audit of the City's
accounts was ordered laid over without comment.
Cr. motion of Trustee Shattuck, seconded by Trustee Roach,
the Clerk .vas directed to advertise for sealed proposals for
purchase of a light truck for use of ehe Street Department.
Cr. motipn of Trustee Shattuck, seconded by Trustee Teihe,
bills in the amount of D9,417.44 as approved by a majority of
e- the finance committee were ordered paid.
Four building permits aec egating $2,175.00 were ordered
granted.
In the matter of non-payment of bills rendered Lodi Canning
Corn,anv for use of the City's Sewerage Disposal Plant for add-
itional costs occasioned by discharge of industrial waste: Trustee
Shattuck,,, seconded by Trustee :'Teihe, moved that the Superinten-
dent of e-ubliC Utilities be instructed to shut Off any additional
facilities in the ;Fav of sewer connection that the Canning Cam-
pany might have for the discharge of such waste within ten days
if the bill for such service remained unpaid up to that time.
The motion carried.

Trustee Shattuck brought up the matter of the crowded con-
ditions at the 'l'unicipal Baths on hot days as regards dressing
room space,'advocatin=- the installation of locker service as
beim more compact and assuring patrons of greater safety. after
some discission. Trustae Shattuck moved, szcondid ba Trustee

the dressing rooms and on carriage of the motion, the President
appointed Trusties Shattuck, Roach and Niheo to serve.
On motion of Trustee Shattuck, the Board adjourned until
8 o'clock P..11. of Monday, July 12th., 1926.
