HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - March 15, 1926166 City Hall, City of Lodi Monday, March 15th.,1926 This regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi was called to order by the President at 8.10 o'clock P.M. on the above date, Trustees Hale, Mettler,Roach, and Spooner present, Trustee Shattuck absent. The minutes of the last regular meeting held March 1st. 1928 were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the Pres- ident. Public Hearings & Protests - kr George E. Lawrence appeared and stated that he would like written assurance that the City would contract to purchase the lands heretoforeroposed by himself for a city park and would assume and pay the street assessments upon the lands of himself and of the proposed park. He was assured by the Presid-. ent that he would be given a binding contract before any cont- ract was -let for the proposed work. The Clerk then read to the Board, the essential parts of a proposed init'atiye ordinance with signatures of two hun- dred twenty-seven (227) purported registered electors. asking that an ordinance with the following title be submitted to the voters of the City :- 6 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A LODI CITY POUND, SPECIFY- ING THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH DOGS,CO7S,HORSES,MULSS.SHEEP GOATTHE CITYY D LODI.R UHER LATI�NGSSHALL THE KEEPING OF Do S TO TAABLISHIING THE OFFICE OF CITY POUN] ASTER PROVIDING FOR HIS COMPENSATION PROVIDING FOR THE IMPOUNDING OF DOGS AND OTHER ANDIAT$ AND FOR THE DISPOSITION OR SALE OF SUCH FOUNDED ANWATS PROVIDING A PENALG��D ANY SF OF DCT REPEINALL INANCESS ANP TOORDINANCES IN CONFLICT rwirn " At the order of the President, none dissenting, the pro- posed ordinance with the appended lists of signatures was ref- erred to the City Clerk for verification of the signatures, certificate as to sufficiency to be presented the Board on March 22nd. Eight building permits for structures aggregating $5,850.00 in value were granted. On motion of Trustee Hale, seconded by Trustee Roach, bills as approved by.the finance committee in the amount of $2,763.23 were ordered paid. On motion of Trustee Roach seconded by Trustee Hale, the President of the Board and the City Clerk were authorised to purchase sufficient land between the end of North Cordier St. and Lockeford Street to ooen Cordier Street at a width of six- ty feet, said purchase not to be consumated until surplus land at the west of the proposed street had been deeded gratis to Mrs Anna Heil and until R.P. Barbour had acquired the equity of Charles Freshour to the parcel of land now owned by 1d.Davis.
