The re,ular meeting of the Board of Trustees ofhe City
of Lodi was called to order by the President at 6.05 o'clock P.E.
on the above date; 'trustees Tale, 1 _ettler, Shattuck and Spooner
present, 'rr,_stee Roach absent.
The minutes of the regular meeting held :`ebruary 15th.
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the =resident.
Lr L:.:;.i e.wfield appeared before the Board and presented
estimates of probable cost for the installation of two or more
tennis courts on City owned grounds.
J.P.-.Y::cla.hon again_ addressed the Board in the matter of
substituting the opening of California Street for Hutchins
Street and more fully expressed his ideas in this matter. A
petition from several property owners in the district benefitted
e- the opening of either street ::s. ., read byethe Clerk at
at this time, in which petition, the signers asked that Calif-
ornia Street be opened out did not ask that the proposed open-
irg, of Hutchins Street be abandoned. The Board decided to meet
at o'clock P.Y. on the Tuesday following, as committee of the
whole and view the proposed extensions.
John Bauer asked the Board for an allowance of $1,100.00
for twelve 'nand concerts during the summer season and asked
also, that the band stand be removed to a less windy location
or that same be enclosed. Both ratters were taken under advise-
ment.
J. F. Newman, representing the American -La trance Fire
Engine Company submitted a rice on gas masks manufactured by
his company. 'hp
e fire Chief pas authorized to purchase six,
if he was entirely satisfied of their efficiency.
Reports of the Poundmazter and City Larshal for r'ebruary
were read and ordered filed.
:e daadon Company submitted a written proposition to
insure the City's Fire Equipment. ttio action taken.
The Clerk read a communication from the Board of 'Trustees
of the City of Imperial protesting against the non -sufficient
taxation of inter=urban st e lines also a notice from the
Executive Secretary of the League of Calii'ornia.Municipalities
calling a s:.ecial meeting at Sacramento on the following Friday.
The City Attorney :gas asked to attend the meeting at Sacramento.
Yrs Claire E. Percival resigned as amember of the City
Planning Commission; action on appointment of a successor was
deferred to a later date at order of the President. J.d.Shattuck
moved, seconded by Trustee John Mettler that Lars. Percival be
tendered the regrets of the Board and that she be thanked for
past services.
The Secretary of the City Planning Commission addressed
a letter to the Board in which the Commission recommended that
the Board procure deeds,to streets that should be opened even
if the owners of the land were given the right to use the land
for a period until the street should be a necessity. 2he City
Er,ineer was directed to compile a list of streets that should
be opened and submit his recommendation to the Board.
Bills amounting to $7,842.66 were allowed as audited on
motion of _r:,.stee riale, seconded by Trustee Lettler.
At the order of the President, none dissenting, the Board
adjourned until the date of their next regular meeting.
