The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
City of Lodi for the third 1'_onday in February 1925 .vas called
to order at 8.10 P.Y. after Trustee Shattuck had been unan-
imously chosen president pro tem in the absence of Trustee
Spooner; Trustees Ti.ettler, Roach and Shattuck present:
Trustees Spooner and Hale absent, the former reported ill and
the latter out of the City.
The minutes of the regular meeting of February 2nd.
were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the President.
J. L. McLahon appeared before the Board and submitted
an alternative proposition for the opening of a street bet-
ween Daisy Avenue and Lockeford Street to be in lieu of the
present proposed opening of Hutchins Street. Lr b`ct:ahon
proposed the opening of California Street stating that this
would serve the same purpose as at present intended and
could more closely conform to property lines besides
co:_necting with Cordier Street should the latter be opened
to Lockeford Street. He also claimed that this street would
give a more equitable separation of the lands adjoining into
city blocks; the matter was referred to committee of the
.-chole and taken under advisement until the Board could view
the land and the engineer run levels for sejers.
L.'i.Newfield and Dr. C.C.Thompson appeared before the
Board and presented a petition circulated by the Lodi Tennis
Olub asking that the City provide for four tennis courts.
This matter was laid over until the nett meeting, !r Newfield
agreeing to submit estimates of cost at that time.
The Clerk read a communication from the Lodi Business
lien's Association protesting against the presence of lunch
wagons on the streets. No action taken.
A letter from B.F.VanVlear of a recently appointed
"Citizen's Committee" asking for a conferance with the Board
in executive session ;gas also read: _.he Board decided to meet
the committee at a date to be set later.
The Clerk was directed to correspond with the heads
of fire departments in larger cities as to the type of
gas mask or halmet=most advisable to purchase.

City Engineer asked that a communication that he had rec-
eived from Ir Alex Saloman be read to the Board. This letter
kiplied for permission to remove two trees From the front of
hir Saloman's property on School Street north of Oak Street and
that the City trim the trees on the Oak Street front to conform
with the general practice of the City, this letter ;:as referred
to the City Planning Commission for recorraendation.
On TMotion of T.-ustee r'ettler the Board adjourned.
