to statute, the City Council of the City of Lodi met
in regular session beginning at 8:010 o'clock P.M.,

At this time, the Clerk read the letter of resignation
of Vr L. P. Singer, A-sistant City Engineer, to take
effect August 1, 1945• Mayor Finn e:�Tressed the sincere
regret of the City Council in the loosing of Lir Singer's
Resignation of
s�rrices after ten years of service for this City. Lir

Singer stated that he deemed the time ozportune for him

to go into business for himself and that he also regret-
ted to leave his present position. Kr John A. Henning,
.r G1enn :fest and Mr Clinton Henning told of their pleas-
ant associations vrith 1!r Singer and testified as to their
'movrledge of his ability, sincerety and faithful perform-
ance of his many dutias under trying war -time conditions.
It being apparent that Mr Singer was steadfast in his
intention to resign, it was *roved by Councilman Riggs,
seconded by Councilman '.leihe, that the resignation be
accepted and that he be allowed the accumulated vacation
time due him before the resignation became effective.

the Clerk. Mr Henning, being present, objected to the
statements made as inaccurate, explaining that certain
paragraphs in his offer to the Council were entirely
elective on part of the Council. After considerable
discussion among the members of the Council and the
City Officers present, Mr Kenneth Gordon asked for some
further information regarding conditions of this employ-
ment; no other citizen appeared. -Mayor Riaz stated that
the Council invited any interested. citizen to a^.pear
at any time and that all particulars of this matter were
public records and accessible to any one.
