1_US:..!T_XG - The minutes of the last Council meeting held on
May 16th were read, approved as read and so endorsed by the
Mayor.
FUBLIC HrARINGS - L`r Leroy Nichols, Superintendent of Schools r_questad that
the City Council consider allocating some share of the City's
allocation from the State for surveys and plans for post-war
construction to Lodi School Districts rather than allow it to
lapse. As no specific amount was stated by kr Nichols and as
the city's needs from these funds was still undetermined, it
was directed that the City Engineer make an estimate of the
amounts that would be required for the city's planning and
that Mr Nichols appear at a later Council meeting with a
defini.e request.
Dr Irving Ridenour, President of the Recreation Cor_L^dssion
presented the annual report of the Commission. lir A.O.Fa,?y,
cc-r:ented briefly on the report.

;otification of transfer of the "on -sale" alcoholic beverage license .From
Wilcox g Stie to David H. Stie, 213 N. Cherokee Lane was received from the
State Board of Equalization.
Lodi Post No 22, :1merican Legion expressed thanks to the City and its emp-
loyees for heir assistance at the dedication of the "Lodi Honor Rc i1' on
"ay 30th.
Retail Merchants Bureau of Lodi District Chamber of Co:.nerce requested that
the two hour parking limit zone be extended westerly to Fleasant avenue so
as to include the block in -which the City Hall is situated. In the absence
of the City Attorney, the City Clerk was directed to prepare an amendr_ent
to Ordinance No. 204 for consideration by the City Council at its next
regular meeting.
Reports of the Chief of Police t of the City Poundmaster and of the City
Clerk,(garbage collection fees), for the month of May were received, read
and ordered filed.

Business license applications of Jerry d.Hare, Photographer, Norman Perry,
enchant (Gasoline), S.G.Tsusaki, Merchant (Garage) and J.L.Nebster,
Contractor were presented and ordered referred to the Chief of Police.

Claims in --he amount of ,727 877.80 as a. -proved by the Finance Co:_mittee
were allowed and ordered paid. The claim of G. A. "food for da:age to his
automobile alleged to :ave been sustained in a collision at Oak Street,
and Pleasant Ave nue April 13, 1945 in the amount of $ 1 5.34 was rejected
on motion duly seconded and carried, and ordered referred to the
City's liability ^insurance carrier, Globe Indemnity Company.

returning to open session at 9:25 o'clock F.!.

..eports of -he Personnel Clerk covering eligible lists established by
recent examdnations for the positions of Police Patrolman and Park Caretaker
-sere received.
On reco: r.!endation of L.P.Singer Jr, .assistant City Engineer, Clarence
C. .Elder :vas apointed Park Custodian, (Lake Park), for the probationary
period of six months. Salary $135.00 plus war time cost of living adjustment
of UC.50.
On reco;rmerdation of Chief of Folice C. 3. Jackson, Rus_ell J. French,
was appointed probationary Police Patrolman, Salary x145.00 plus mar time
cost of living adjustment of .$'40.50.
At 10:55 o'clock the City Clerk was excused.
By unanimous agreement, L.P.Singer Jr, Assistant City Engineer was
authorized to enter into an agreement �,+ith Coast klaintenance Cempany for
sandblasting the interior of the baths tanks and also have metal railings
restored at the baths entrance. Estimated cost to be between 34GO and $500.
Mr Singer was also authorized to seek further proposals on the sale
of sludge from the Sa a.ge Disposal. Plant and to ascertain the effect of
price regulations on such sale.
No further business appearing, the City Council adjourned on motion
of Counrilnan ,leihe.
