by letter and orally requested endorsement by the City Council of that
company's application to the State Railroad C.,_-•.�ssicn, now pending,
for a certificate of public convenience and necessity to operate bus
lines over an alternate route to Rio Vista via Isleton and Terminous.
The City Ce ncil proved Lr Gibson's request and in accordance with
this approve?, adopted its resolution No 1226eAintroduced by Councilman
7eihe, seconded by Councilman Coffield, by unanimous vote:

with the Railroad Commission of the State of California ;Therein said
Gibson Lines applied for a certificate of public convenience and nec-
eesity to operate bus service ever an alternate route betWeen Stockton -
Lodi and Isieton-Rio Vista with the right to serve certain intermed-
iate points, and,
"c=rews, this City Ccu^_eil believes that the schedule of operation is
convenient and the rates proposed to be charged are just and reasonable
and that this additional service will greatly benefit the people_ in
Lodi and in its vicinity and will provide mass transportation to points
not now accessable except by private means, therefore,

approve the granting of the certificate requested and requests that
the State Railroad Commission give the same favorable consideration to
the end that this service be initiated at the earliest possible moment.

Lodi i'iwanis Club asked by letter for permission to donate and construct
a childrens wading pool on the old Salem School grounds for children
at the Lodi Day Care Center. On motion of Councilman Ccffield, Riegs
second, the requested permission was granted, the noel to be built and
located in conformity with the plans of the City Engineer's Department
and the Lodi Recreation Commission.
Meyer Rinn read excerpts from a letter from Richard Graves, Executive
Secretary of the League of California Cities and explained the necess-
ity for aid to local governments from state collected revenues not
only as a war -tine measure but as a continuing policy.
•r:'id'C. Fauly, Director of Recreation applied for a weeks leave with
pay so that he, as a member of the local unit of the California State
Guard zr.i_ht attend a school for motion picture projectionists to be
held at Presidio San Francisco this month. Permission granted.
Reports of the Chief of Police for the month of larch and that of the
City i'oundmaster for the sane period were received and ordered filed,
likewise the quarterly Report of the Chief of -the Fire Department and
the March Report cf the City Clerk on garbage.fee collections.

Sosinees License Applications: Transfer of the Yerchents License of
Powell and Ledbetter from.. 4 :T_st Lodi Avenue to 402 East Elm Street
was approved en roll call, Councilmen .ieihe, Tolliver, Rigs, Coffield
an Rinn voting aye.
Two new applications, both from Joseph Girado, one for a Rooming Hcuse,
the other for a Restaurant, both business at e' 04 East Lodi Avenue
-were received and ordered referred to the Chief of Police in accordance
with ordinance.

the proceedings hereinafter mentioned are hereby initiated by it, the said City
Council, and that the following described uninhabited territory in the County
of San Jcaquin, State of California is contiguous to the City of Lcdi and that
it is the desire of said City Council that the same be annexed to this City for
the following reasons:
(1) :n order to extend sanitary services to 'lessees and owners of the lands
comprising said territory se that their operations constitute no r_uisanc=_ to the
adjoining inhabitants of Lodi;
(2) To extend fire protection services to buildin,,s now built or to be built
therein, and -c as to prevent spread of fires to properties now in the city;
(3) To furnish police protection -to corrmercial and industrial plants pro-
posed to be erected thereon, and thereby prevent the spread of Trine into the
corporate limits of t",e City of Lodi;
(?,•) To control the type, use and locations of buildings to be erected there-
on so that no Iamage result to properties in the vicinity thereof or in said city.
