?UB'IC HEARINGS - Mr 4r -rid 0. Fauly, Dirsctor of Recreation orally presented his
claim for reimbursement of the sum of $125.00 expended by him to defray the
cost of hiring a Sacramento dance orchestra on December 16th, the City Clerk
having demurred at paying this charge from petty cash on account of the
amount. Mr Pauly r_s instructed to file his claim in the regular manner for
aoproval of the Finance Co:mittee.

In accordance with ordinance, the above applications were ordered referred
to the Chief of Police for investigation and report.
The a. plication. of :i. G. Deutscher presented November 15th as ar.proved by
the Chief of Police was ordered granted.
Assistant City Engineer L.r.Singer Jr presented a tentative diagram for the
or.ening of a street parallel to Cherokee Lane and along the east lines of
Lots 1 to 9 of five Oak Colony Map 2:o 1. The Council aproved the project
for o..ening of the street on a v;luntary contribution basis with such
assistance as the City could lend where difficulties were encountered, the
street to be at least 50 feet in width.
The City Clerk was instructed to have the Agricultural Department of San
Jcaouin County make an estimate of the cost of an intensive campaign to
control rats in the City Dumping Grounds.
..r Mel H. Hammond presented a written_ report on the California Aviation
Congress held in Los Angeles December 12th to 14th, read the same and
joined with 1r C Blewett of the Chamber of Commerce Aviation Committee
in a discussion of the City's needs in the way of an airport. Mayor Rinn
requstad that the kcal Chamber of Commerce wive this matter immediate
and careful consideration and actively take measures to see that this
coyuounity be advised of measures necessary to serve the air transportation
needs that completion of the war will entail.
The claim of Emanuel Krueger, 1207 S. Central Avenue for payment of alleged
damages to his automobile in the amount of $41.42 caused by the fall' of
a street lighting standard on :fest ?ine Street was ordered rejected cn
notion of Councilman Tolliver, Riggs second.
